    Who would you buy?

Got this weeks Match Magazine? :monster: Did you quote your own post to have a laugh about how clever and funny you were?
  2. Does anyone think we should have sold Craig Bellamy?
  3. Gardner seems to be too much of a crock for my liking. The reason everyone has heard about Barry and Taylor this season is beacuse they're both playing in midfield (Taylor on the wing!) and Barry is taking penalties. Doesn't mean they're playing badly, just that they're being noticed for reasons other than their abilities at left back. I'm not sure about Shorey - don't know how good he is defensively - but from what I've seen he looks decent enough.

What on earth makes you think Titus cares any more than Carr? I would say Titus has been directly at fault for more goals we've conceded over the last two seasons than Carr has. BULLSHIT, a lot of titus's errors stem from the fact that he's prepared to put his foot in. Carr neglects his responsibilities time and time again then blames every other c***. I would have said that a lot of Titus's errors stem from one of two things: a) He doesn't have a very long concentration span or b) He isn't very good at marking people from set pieces. You also didn't tell me why Titus cares about the club more than Carr does. Good reply though.
  5. Really? He makes Ameobi look good! I'm not sure I'd agree with you on that one... From what I've seen he looks quick and strong with a good eye for goal. As someone pointed out earlier, fairly similar in style to Darren Bent. I think he'd do a good job for us herre, pretty sure he's only about 21 as well.
  6. Quote happy? I rate him. Would like him here, particularly as it doesn't look like he'd be too expensive.

  8. Barry and Taylor aren't playing at left back (predominantly) this season. Shorey has looked decent since arriving in the league. Also, is Trabelsi playing LB? I know he's a RB but they have Richards there, I thought he played midfield against us? Isn't Thatcher their starting LB?
  9. Weren't we linked with him a while back? 1,5 million seems a very reasonable price for such a huge talent and it's for one of our problem positions too.. Pah, let Pompey have him and take Taylor for £4m. He plays on the wing for them now, and is first choice.
  10. I'd like him here. Always rated him.
  11. Would anyone take Harewood here for £2m? (Assuming he'd be available for that sort of price). Big strong and quick, scored a lot of goals last season. Hasn't done much this year, but has certainly scored more prem goals than Beattie over the last season and a half. Would certainly give us more physical presence up top.
  12. He only played in 3 Premiership games and we lost 2 of them, in the 4 games he didn't play we won 3 and lost 1 (away to Chelsea) More relevant than the Opta stats?
  13. If ManU of Chelsea got him, I'd be pretty excited about our chances of going for Bridge or Heinze - both of whom are quality and established in the premiership. Either of those would be a superb aquisition.
  14. Please God! To be fair a lot of Wham fans would be saying the exact same thing to this proposal after this seasons perrformances, I would imagine. Parker was generally (not by all, but generally) lauded as one of our best players of last season, same with Reo-Coker at Wham. This season Parker hasn't impressed people as much, but I think Reo-Coker has been even more underwhelming for them - a number of their fans have even adapted their song about him to sing Reo-Mediocre instead. I understand that a number of people here think Parker unbalances the team but I don't think it'd make sense to straight swap him for R-C. Parker seems to be highly rated outside Newcastle (he started the last England international after all) whereas R-Cs stock seems to be dropping quickly. We could get a lot better deal than a straight swap here imo, if a deal were to happen.
  15. Where has the second one gone? I typed a long(ish, for me) post in that one as well. :wullie:
  16. How can you profess to know so much about Champioinship football? How much do you watch?
  17. I enjoy the joke of trying to make the original quoted post disappear as much as the next man, but surely this thread would be easier to follow if people didn't include two and a half thousand quoted posts each time they wanted to add two more lines?
  18. Then I could copy and past my post across and be lauded for my intelligence, as I deserve.
  19. Thread abandoned as far as I'm concerned. I spent fucking ages typing my informative, well thought through and fully correct post as well!
  20. I wouldn't disagree with that particularly, but as I posted above, I can't see any benefit in selling him.

    New crisis

From the (albeit limited) action I've seen them involved in, I'd probably rather we played O'Brien ahead of Pattison on the left wing.
  22. I don't think we should sell Given. Why would we? - We wouldn't get that much money for him. - Harper is worse than him, and we wouldn't be able to buy anyone better, so the end result would be having a worse keeper. - As has been pointed out, due to their respective ages it's very unlikely he'll be getting in the way of Krul. - Selling one of your best players over the last decade, who is still in top form, without replacing him with someone better is hardly the sign of a club moving forwards. If someone came in and offered huge money for him, i.e. £10m+ it would have to be thought about, obviously. However, it's not happened before, and I fail to see why it would happen now. Surely if we were going to sell anyone to promote Krul, Harper would be the obvious choice?
  23. If, and it's a big if, the link has any substance, it's interesting to see us looking at players without big household names. Somewhat spoils the regular "I think we should go for xxxx, but Roeder will never have heard of him" argument.
  24. This is my vote, as I explained at decent length in the January Transfers thread. A striker is more important this season, but when Owen is back I'd want someone who could do a job for the team but wouldn't be too upset about being a regular 3rd choice. The LB we pick up is someone who should be first choice for a number of years. Judging by recent transfer activity, I would imagine these players would cost a similar amount - it just depends whether or not anyone will sell at this time of the season. I'd go for Keane, Nugent, Collins John, Viduka, Beattie (in that order) and Bridge, Baines, Shorey, Bale (in that order). Be interesting to find out how much any of those selections would actually cost.
