"Can we beat Spurs?" What a dumb question. Of course we can. We might not, but there's not that much of a gulf in class!

By that, I assume what you mean is: "will I be at the pub with no football, or will I be at the pub watching a game?" :winking:

There's no chance they'd play it tomorrow is there? Just thinking about whether we're going to keep out TV slot tomorrow...

Anyone know when this would be replayed?

Not forgetting those out on loan, such as Stokes, Lupoli, Bendtner, .....

Was going to put a small bet on Newcastle to win a trophy in 2007 as a jokey Xmas present for the old man, anyone know if any bookies will accept that, or will it have to be specific to one trophy?

Agree with this. One of Souness' major failings was his man-management, and ability to fall out with players, and yet it hasn't hindered those who are truly good at their job (e.g. Fergie). Fact of the matter is we don't know whether or not Shearer is a good manager - and whatever he does or doesn't say can't make him one or the other yet. Seems a little harsh to be reading so much into so little, basically. Fair comment. Lets hope he is a good manager, because if he is, he'll have success at Newcastle. Aye, I guess all we can do is hope he turns out to be a great manager, because I'd be surprised if he's not in the hot seat at some point in the future!

In what way? 4-1 Best player over the last few weeks? Showing how much better a team we can be when Parker doesn't play? Although I guess the memory of something (albeit regrettable) that happened a very long time ago is more relevant  Thinking about the team or the past?

Think he's called Paul Drinkhall or something. Looked quality in the Commonwealth games.

I know they they keep messing with the laws of the game and one of the more recent updates was the offside law so I may be wrong here. I always understood that it matters not in which direction the player passes the ball but where the other player is in relation to him. If the second player is behind the first and the first passes the ball I understand that it matters not whether the first is in front, level with or behind the second. Could someone clarify this for me please? I don't really follow you, but i know that i'm right. You're wrong (Unless the rule has changed since I did my refereeing course - in which case I apologise). The ball being played backwards does not mean someone is onside. If Taylor was behind the ball, he can't be offside. If he was in front of it, then he can, regardless of whether it's played backwards. I've got a feeling he was in front of the ball (and thus offside), and moved back to hit it in. But is should have been a pen anyway :winking:

I agree. Would also mean that long ball was never our predominant tactic, which would be beneficial to us. Agree with Yorkie-Geordie's first post here as well. A potentially excellent partnership in my opinion.

Accumulator: Liverpool Tottenham Reading Birmingham Plymouth comes in almost 15/1 Also got Charlie to score first and a 1-1 draw at 80/1 As an aside I tried to put a bet on Panesar to take ten or more wickets in the Ashes - but my wording is "Panesar to take ten wickets in this ashes series" - have I fucked it? Will he need to get exactly 10 for that to pay?
-
Yeah, brilliant. I wish people booed Taylor more. That would be smashing.

Nolberto Solano

Acuna was NOT crap! Seconded.

Given Nobby Taylor Moore Rampage Duff Dyer Parker N'Zogbia Martins Owen Duff shades it on the RW ahead of Milner, because although he's been cack so far I know he's got class and ability. I'm not thrilled about Rampage at LB, but I think we need some defensive solitdity there - he's not suited to the position but at least he knows when to twat it out.

No Dyer=No 3 pts I'm afraid you're right.. yeah, cos he contributes so much. Do you think, based on what you've seen from Dyer this season, we'd do better or worse with him in the team tonight?
-
I think Rossi was a decent signing, given the state of affairs. We didn't have enough strikers, and we needed a bigger squad to start the season with. We'd fucked up the transfer window, and knew it so at little to no expense we brought in Rossi and Sibierski. It gave us extra bodies, and made our squad that little bit stronger without wasting any cash on a player we didn't want. Granted, he's not played much, but at (presumably) just the cost of his (again, presumably) low wages I think it was a reasonable bit of business. Nothing gained, nothing lost. If only we could say that about Luque...

Bayern Roma Barcelona Treble on Betfreds 7th heaven coupon, comes in at about 4/1

Is Dyer out? Thought he might be back for this game?
-
Oh aye, cos' they barely had a sniff apart from that, like. They scored because Taylor is thick. Maybe so, but I'd have him in the team over Carr any day.

RIP, and what a goal scoring record that is. 83 in 84 at international level and 512 in 528 for Madrid, simply incredible.
