Real Carl Cort or Shola?
-
I think he'd be a great signing now. The obvious comparison would be Andy Keogh, as Beckford took over his role for Scunthorpe in league 1 a couple of years ago. Keogh looked quality in the Championship, and Beckford's the better goalscorer. I'd actually approach Wolves and see if they'd sell Keogh now they're in the prem.... Don't know anything about Keogh either Name a striker I'll have heard of he's similar to...

Fair play. I'm sure there are a few who've seen him a bit, but I'm always sceptical of the youtube scouts... Would he be a good signing then?
-
You don't say.... I've honestly never watched Beckford play, he plays in league 1 ffs. I know he's got an impressive scoring record but I couldn't list any of his attributes. I find it hard to believe that the majority of people on here have seen anything other than on the premier scouting tool of the web. The league below us ffs. Wonder when people will realise that we can't go out and buy champions league players? What has your comment got to do with what I said? I'm not implying we're too good for him by any means, I said I don't know anything about him, he could be too good for us for all I know. I was merely pointing out how surprised I am and the apparent depth of knowledge about a player who's played in League 1 for the last two years (don't know what he did before then).
-
He looks good, but he's never really done it in an international tournament, the CL or in one of the top three leagues in the world. Don't think he can go down as world class as it stands (mind I have only picked 4 players in the world).
-
I wouldn't begrudge him going to Villa in the slightest either. Would seem a strange one though, I thought Young was pretty much their best player last year?

Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi, Shola. That's it.

2-1 Win. Going to be a great day out, will be my first proper chance to give Sir Bobby a decent send off. It'll be emotional in the stands and I reckon we'll have enough on the pitch. I hope so anyway.

Just logged on to find 12 more pages on this Has there been anything more substantial that Thomo mentioning this?

Treasured the world around.

Sleep tight Sir Bobby.

I've probably enjoyed him more than any of our players bar Habib in the last three years. He was a long way from being 'perfect' but at least he's left some decent memories. All the best Oba.

Not one person interested in football in this country won't be saddened by this. And I don't think there can be a higher tribute.
-
Particularly your first two lines are a beautiful way to put it. This was coming, but we shouldn't be sad. The man has been a hero to a huge number of us and lived an inspirational life. He'll be missed but he's certainly made his mark. 4-1

The day he was appointed was pretty special. A day of hope and expectation.

What about : Sir Bobby 1933-2009 Legend Ask for the little numbers they put on the shorts . Would be better if the club (or any of his other clubs) could put together an official shirt and give the proceeds to the SBR charity. It's a cracking idea but I don't think it'll ever happen. A small % may go to the charity, but the club still relies on merchandising for a lot of its revenue. Just not practical sadly, although I would love to be proved wrong.

He missed a pen against Everton with his left foot. It was just a shit penalty whichever foot he took it with.
-
Was that not Kenny D? Always had the idea in my head that he'd ring up Nobby to see how he was doing so Nobby, unable to speak English, would play the trumpet. Cracking story whoever it was.

Well it sums up the German game when Mario Gomez goes for £27m. I don't know anything about him apart from the fact he was fucking terrible in the Euros...£27m

Except Lennon is excelling in a better league and when Odonkor does play he is just s***? They must be so a like Is lennon a good crosser of the ball? Is his technique the weakest element of his game? Answer me those. His crossing improved markedly last season to be fair. Still one of his weaknesses but he doesn't just swing a leg at the ball and hope for the best anymore. He also gets closer to goal on the touchline and looks to pull the ball back due to his pace / dribbling ability now which doesn't require such a difficult crossing technique.

Does anyone remember the post match interview after Spurs beat us once? I'm pretty sure that to explain the defeat he made some sort of PR woman pretend to be Nobby Solano whilst he acted out how Gus Poyet was running rings around him and finding space. Genius.
