    RIP sale thread.

I'd like to announce that I hereby end my interest in shagging Angelina Jolie tonight.
  3. I think the hatred stems from those UEFA Cup games with Marseille first and foremost. I was utterly desperate for us to sign him to replace Shearer after those games. f***ing Chelsea noticed him though. I'm sure we were credited with interest at one point. Tore us and Liverpool a new one in that competition. Would have made sense if we were linked with him though I can't remember if we were or not. The first goal he scored against us was superb. The volley against the post with his wrong foot in the first leg was pretty special too. We had Shola upfront, they had Didier
  4. I love watching him play though. In full flow he's absolutely magnificent. Got a bit of stick when he first joined Chelsea cos of the fee and his goalscoring records were good but not great, but the role Mourinho had him playing suited him perfectly. He came back for corners, ran the oppositions back line ragged and is probably the best striker in his mould in the world. Last season was disappointing for him, but 06-07 he was unplayable. He's awesome. Perfect Shearer replacement
  5. Does alright with Villa at international level.

  8. That's a good point actually, if we ever get sorted we might be relying on Shearer to pull in some favours with his premiership pals. Ah yes, all his friends that turned up for his testimonial If I was a premiership manager I'd love to send a young striker to work under Shearer to learn the game.
  9. Bollocks, they've been rinsed by everyone for years, they'll be loving that someone else has suffered the same fate.
  10. I think they showed more respect by staying away than if they'd showed their faces.
  11. I didn't think he looked committed all season to be honest. Not compared to how he'd looked in the two preceeding seasons anyway. You're certainly not the only one who thinks this. The fact is, before his injury he'd managed 6 goals in 12 games. If that represents a lack of effort it also represents some f***ing ability, especially in our team All season? before his injury I said Yeah I know, but was that all he managed before his injury? Which injury are we talking, the one he picked up at pompey? aye Seems quite early to write off a season. Wasn't doubt cast over his earlier 'injury' in the season? Can't remember the details exactly.

  13. Maybe it's all a master plan. Don't go spending the mega bucks early. They don't have megabucks. The megabucks ran when they weren't allowed to be anonymous. But I thought the Arab that took over was rich? Or was he some sort of consortium, explain the situation man! No one's entirely sure, but his personal fortune imo is no more than £150mn. He has access to rich people, supposedly willing to invest, but the strict PL rules scared them away. I was told their takeover had 'fallen through' earlier this month, due to the real money backers pulling out, but it seems Al-Fahim has decided to go it alone, with a ridiculous deal that allows the former owner to take a % of Sky money, the Peter Crouch money etc. whilst Al-Fahim hasn't paid off all the debt (owed to SA bank and Gaydamak), just promised to service it. I think this is as he looks for an investor, but he certainly hasn't found one yet and if he doesn't soon, Portsmouth will struggle to compete at PL level as Al-Fahim can barely service the debt without compromising his personal wealth too much. That sounds really bad, it's a horrible worry to think they could all go arse over tit like that. Their last manager pretty much bankrupted them with wages.

  16. West Brom Reading Preston Cardiff Ipswich Bristol City QPR Watford Coventry Derby Nottm Forest Barnsley Plymouth Leicester Peterborough They're all on the radar. Seems like quite a long list. Had to delete a few that would have been definites due to holiday (Palace, both Sheffields). I'm sure I won't make that many, but hopefully the majority of them.
  17. Who'dve known! Marc Hottiger actually did some good for NUFC! Hot-dog was a legend.

    RIP sale thread.

There was about a 2 hour spell when they first announced their interest and it was very exciting...then someone who'd heard of them pissed on that bonfire.
  19. Interesting how many people's reason for supporting Newcastle in this thread is either directly or indirectly linked to Kevin Keegan (I'd say Shearer or Beardsley being the reason without a doubt means that Keegan's ultimately responsible). It's all well and good me saying I had no choice due to my father but; surrounded by glory hunters in my school would I really have had my imagination captured by the toon if we weren't on the up? (First season I can remember is the promotion year) It's impossible to say for sure, but there's clearly a chance I would have wandered astray.
  20. I think Dyer helped him a lot. Huge pace and much better movement created space for him to exploit.
  21. Until it got bumped today it had been two months without a post He's a bit slow, just let him have his moment. Yes, well done Mike. You are right. *pats head* I can't be expected to read the posts preceding mine. I try to make a point of not doing so.
