  1. Campbell was on £105,000 p/w at Pompey. Redknapp's financially crippled them with wages.
  2. £10m (as reported by Sunderland) increasing to a maximum of £16.5m (as reported by Spurs to the Stock Exchange). I wouldn't get your hopes up about add-ons, they'll win fuck all
  3. Bent's down as a £10m move on SSN this morning.

Venables won't come, but he's a far more qualified coach than the likes of O'Leary, Strachan, Coppell and other such losers mentioned so far. What did Venabls won? Nothing Starchen achivement at Celtic is better than Martin O'Neil and same moron people here were saying the same about MON few years back when I scream his appointment instead of Roeder. Learn about football ppls. venables won la liga with barca, and an fa cup with spurs, albeit a while ago. Which century and I just want to know which manager fail to win at Baraca plus thats two decade ego. Strachen won lots of titiles in the past 4 years and if any of you guys care to watch his sides play with commitment and passion all the times. Venables actually moulded clubs like QPR and was a relatively successful England coach, he's well respected by people in the game. Strachan is a little shit who can win a two horse race in Scotland like Graeme Souness other than that I'm not sure he's done much. Strachan has actually done nowt of any note when managing an English club in an obviously far more competitive league than the scotch one. If memory serves he did a half decent job keeping Coventry up, always thought they were punching above their weight in the top flight. Nothing special mind.
  5. Seems this has all been another stalling tactic to avoid appointing Shearer because they didn't like his demands when they met with him after the season. It appears they want to try and get back up with largely the same squad of players and a manager who is as of yet to be revealed. Considering Harris' claims that Martins was sold because he didn't fit the Championship style and two are expected in, I would say the manager is already at work. With our rotten luck it will be O'Leary. Why do you only put one sentance in each paragraph? Is it some sort of attempt to make your sentances seem as though they have more gravitas or do you simply not understand the principle of paragraphs? Whatever the reason I find it extremely irritating. This technique drags you down to the same level as Robert Peston. Why do you only put one sentance in each paragraph? 6. CL finish (and semi-final) with Leeds and top 6 with Villa... I think he inherited good players in both situations. As soon as he had to operate on a budget at Villa the team performances sunk like a stone. I don't know tbh. Never really rated him and I know brummie doesn't either. Don't think he ever did anything as bad as say, Souness did here mind. Regardless of the squad you inherit a CL semi-final is something to shout about.

    RIP sale thread.

Nope, we were taken over yesterday. Everyone has chosen not to post about it though.
  10. That's nothing. A newcastle fan on this forum (me) says we have too.
  11. It makes no sense. Why would Kinnear be approached before Shearer?
  12. Agreed. But the only team who are spending is Man City, if they can A) get some bodies in to supplement the defence and B) Hughes can get them gelled together quickly, I wouldn't rule City out of contention just yet. It'll be asking a lot to go well for them and overall I still think it might be Chelsea's year but, as you say, none of the Big 4 seem to be getting the players in to replace the ones that are going out. Can't see City even coming close to winning it this year as they've no stability yet. The squad needs to get to know what's going on, what the team is and learn to play together first. Perhaps next season, when they should be at the stage of only needing to sign one or two big names a summer they'll be in a much stronger position. Having said that I can see them cracking the top 4 at this rate.
  13. FYP. Referring to Drogba that is. True. He looked like a different player again under Hiddink, if he can keep that up they're in with a great shout.
  14. It doesn't seem like anyone wants to win the title. Chelsea are ageing big time and only have two strikers. Liverpool, Arsenal and ManU have lost important players without replacing them. I'd probably tip Chelsea at the moment, but they'll need to keep Lampard, Essien and Drogba fit all season.
  15. I count only one, Kinnear. He was injured for the bulk of Shearer's time No he wasn't he was fit and lumbering about in the reserves, even scored a few goals when Shearer was manager. Hughton had plenty games when he could have picked him as well. Hughton picked him to play 4 times didn't he? When did he score goals with Shearer boss? He was injured for the duration of April and some of May, making selection for Shearer pretty unlikely He scored a few for the reserves near the end of the season, couple of pens and a few tap ins, might have finished with about 5 goals in the end. Whilst Shearer was boss, he scored 2 against Ashington in mid-may after returning from an injury which kept him out for 6 weeks. Nobody is desputing that Kinnear ignored him, but it's unfair to say that the other managers followed suit He scored 2 against Wigan and think one of the pens was against Man U, when macheda scored his hat-trick 4 days before he came off the bench to get the winner for Man U against Villa. i've had the fortune to witness every goal Xisco has scored so far for NUFC!! Shearer WAS NOT boss then, how many times do you need to be told? Not all that relevant really when you consider binnsy's seen pretty much every Xisco performance for us at all levels and rates Shola with a fucked hip higher than him.
  16. What about Colin? He's got a team out of that division before and has a big old ego...
  17. Fucking hell, how did I miss this thread? "handing in a written transfer request, Butt may be about to follow suit"
  18. If he realises he couldn't sell there's always the chance he'll bend over backwards for Shearer again. Optimism.
  19. How much is he going for?
