It was Mort who put the whole hated "system" in place.

Are the home support causing our late reversals?

Seriously, if he backed his man, invested in the squad and we moved in the right direction I can't see how anyone could have issues. :| Just some good-old spending of cash in January then? Because the (un)willingness to back his man in whatever way is exactly what caused the problems with Keegan, or so it seems. You say it like its a regular occurrence. Hey, it's only four years since the glorious January window of Boumsong and Amdy Faye.

Good post. I don't think it's possible for anyone to be "100% sure that he wasn't going to succumb to health issues again," though.

My local pub team's colours are black and white and they went through the whole of last season unbeaten.

Classic circular reasoning, that. If JFK wins us the FA cup this year I'll be the first to offer my mouth for the congratulatory blow job. So every manager we've had since 1955 wasn't qualified for the job? I can see what's going to happen next. Pedro thinks he can, too.

That's because once Kinnear's contract is up and we get a proper manager he's GUARANTEED to be successful obviously. Good spot OK, I conceed, give JFK the job full time. See where that'll get us. Or how about just let him get on with it till the season's up? FWIW I don't think he's the long term answer but he's done a good job in the circumstances. We are pretty well organised, the spirit is good, I just don't think it's fair to be sniping at this point. This. He came in when no one else would touch the job, steadied the ship, made us hard to beat, and is now starting to get results. We couldn't have asked for much more so far, really, even though he's obviously benefitting from low expectations. But there's plenty of the season left before making decisions about whether he should have the job in the longer term. His position, as ever, will probably depend on whether or to whom the club gets sold, but it's hardly surprising if Ashley feels grateful enough right now to stand by his man. And today of all days we should not be slagging him off.

you're not going down the "hope they fail" route I hope ? At my age now, I've seen far worse than this, and even the suggestion of it is pretty sad. Sorry but that is true and how I see it. For the record, I'll say what I've always said. The more "trophy players" the club sign ie just like the other trophy winners do, the better. If Owen DOES sign, is it a sign of a change or direction or Ashley trying to paper over the cracks and get deluded people on his side ? Do you think it would be a sign of him realising he has been wrong and is prepared to attempt to match the european qualifications of his predecessors ? What do you think ? I think you're trying to imply that we were "trophy winners" under the old board. That, or you're too drunk to think straight. ah, you're back. I meant "trophy winners" as in managers who win titles with 2 different club, things like that, and looking at a record like that hoping they can do it again. Feeble excuse. You were talking bollocks, let's face it.

I know, the f***ing irony. Some seriously f***ed up logic on here. if there is a difference it is that NUSC is a small, newly formed amatuer supporters group which is still finding its feet, while ashley is a professional businessman who owns our club. so you have to hold him to higher standards. are you suggesting that it is the opposite and we're supposed to cut ashley slack for the same faults? if there's anyone out there who pans NUSC for being unprofessional and making jokes and doesnt do the same for ashley (if these quotes are real), then they have an agenda. if there is anyone out there who never believes Sun's football related news but suddenly believes that it is a Gospel of Truth when the news can be used to hit Ashley, then they have an agenda Ashley's remark was a light-hearted throw away comment. If NUSC comments are also light-hearted and not meant to be taken seriously then you have a point. Is it all a big joke then? Alpal, i said if true. these are direct and extended quotes so i would imagine they are for real. Come on, how many times have we seen the Sun coming out with rubbish 'direct and extended quotes'....there's a reason why people call the Sun a cheap tabloid. My point remains, that you seem willing to give more credibility to this particular news compared to previously because it can be used to attack Ashley. In my view your justification is post conclusion. You decided the conclusion first (to accept the news) before justifying it by saying that they are "direct and extended quotes". I honestly can't remember ever using news from the Sun to attack anybody, not even Freddie. Of course with the "if it's true" disclaimer (which I missed), then I agree with your point to a large extent. im not sure i can ever remember the sun having fake extended quotes tbh. usually when we see articles the first thing people ask after or look for are quotes and there's loads of them in there. maybe if it was a line or two from an obscure source, like dirk kuyt saying we were his dream club, then i'd be skeptical, but this seems like a genuine interview. It doesn't to me, although I suppose it might be. In what context did Ashley supposedly say these things? He just rang some tosser at The Sun out of the blue? He took a call from The Sun? Neither seems very likely.

Great! So it's fine if a crowd of people start chanting bigoted shite at a public event, because a bunch of fuckwitted toffs at Oxford have politically incorrect fancy-dress parties.

Thread title is bollocks. It should say "football club". -
The Thai opposition are probably already preparing their "Geordie mafia out!" banners.

You took the words right off my fingertips. Big game, old enemies. I hope we fucking stuff them as usual, but I'm nervous. -
I remember Mourinho describing a week's training as follows: The first day they practiced attack. The second day they practiced defence. The third day they practiced the transition from attack to defence. The fourth day they practiced the transition from defence to attack. The fifth day they practiced set pieces. It's all important.
