  1. Perhaps you can ask any Cockney journo that he or she should recommend the above mentioned player to Ashley, as part of whatever sort of PR & bullshit based exclusive Ashley embarks should he still own the club by then................. he'll arrive on the cheap in January. I bet you're the life and soul of the Special Needs centre.
  2. Nearest English team to me at the moment would be Gillingham or Norwich or Ipswich -- whichever is furthest east. Nearest actual team is Türkiyemspor Berlin, in the fourth tier of German football, where Fumaca now plays. They're about a mile away.
  3. I use the word "fact" there loosely, of course, as this is only allegedly Kinnear's opinion.
  4. I don't suppose it is, ultimately, but he'll obviously have some influence. That's what I mean, I don't think he should be having any influence. I don't honestly see how he couldn't have, insofar as if there's any doubt that Owen's worth the money he's asking for, the fact that the manager doesn't care if he keeps him would probably tip the decision.

  6. Gossip I'm hearing is that Kinnear isn't going to fight very hard to keep him as he thinks Owen's a lazy twat. Owen was expecting £180,000 a week, but that prospect vanished with Keegan. (Third-hand account of conversation friend of friend had with a lone-dining Kinnear in Jesmond Dene fish restaurant.)
  7. Moronic. An individual in the crowd hoys a coin, so "the crowd" is to blame? Alan Smith did the same thing when he was at Leeds, iirc.
  8. And got through just one season as player-manager of Preston North End.
  9. According to a Guardian interview with Keith Harris (few days ago while the forum was in limbo -- don't have a link), Philip Anschutz is not one of the potential buyers. Good news, I'd say.
  10. Was obviously a bugger of a job. Thanks to everyone who slaved to sort it all out.
  11. Of course you'd think this far-right tosser is great.
  12. Sounds like a real twat, though: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Anschutz http://www.nerve.com/dispatches/clark/citizenanschutz/printcopy.asp
  13. Yeah, but after Keegan decided to go, I fail to see why it's automatically a bad idea to think of a manager who would be on the same wavelength as the DOF the previous incumbent apparently had trouble with. I don't particularly want Poyet here, just pointing out the other side of the coin.
  14. So let's see... Keegan is praised for walking because he couldn't put his own team together. Ashley, though, must be a twat for trying to put his own team together.

    Royston Keane?

He's played and managed in three varieties of red and white, he's a smug thug. Fuck him.
  16. Living abroad, yeah it's good that there are more matches on television. But I really miss the whole Saturday afternoon results thing, the scores from all the divisions coming in, the table clicking into its new positions for the week to come. It's just wank when there are only a handful of matches on a Saturday afternoon, even if all you're doing is listening to the second-half match commentary on the World Service.
  17. He might not be ready quite yet, but he's working miracles where he is, he knows the club, he knows the league, he'd love the job, and unlike three out of our last four managers he's even been working as a manager over the last few years.

  19. They'll be able to put out a whole team of them soon.
