  1. Anyway, it's not just land prices that would bump up the value of a London club. More money about generally means higher ticket prices etc means potentially greater income stream, plus London is the preferred destination of rich young footballers with too much cash to spend.
  2. I doubt the land that Spurs sit on would command the highest prices in London. Considering the area is a racial mess and a totall shithole to boot. What's a "racial mess"?
  3. Why do you think they'd be any better at baseball? It's a metaphor - but I'm sure you already knew that and are just being a twat. Aye, well spotted -- a twat with an aversion to American jargon being used to talk about football.
  4. Why do you think they'd be any better at baseball?
  5. I'm trying to get my brain around the idea of fake bids and fraudulent consortiums. I mean, what's the point? "Hey, let's pretend to be an anonymous African consortium and make a fake bid for Newcastle United and say we'll bring Kevin Keegan back as manager/part-owner." Like, why? Seymour Pierce trying to get a few bids going? Hell, for all we know no one wants to own a mid-table club that requires an investment of several hundred million to make it into a top four contender and comes attached to a volatile bunch of fans with a messiah complex.
  6. It would be funny but it's giving the tosser too much attention.
  7. To be fair, that's simply not how it works. They probably don't see the headlines until they see the paper.
  8. You're missing his basic point, which that they're on his back writing s**** about him before he's even got going. I'm just saying I think it comes across as childish, personally. I'd much prefer him to sit there and fire the players up in a positive manner, rather than hurling abuse at a bunch of journalists. That's just my opinion. I don't think for a second that the players will think this is positive. The majority (especially senior players) will think he comes across as a bit of a joke. But it was a press conference, not a training session. You're actually saying the same as the hacks: "Why is he doing this when he should be doing that?"
  9. No. He is now bigger than the club. I saw that because it'd seem - and I do say seem, it's not a dead cert, but bear with me - it'd seem that any potential bidder knows that to really get their foot in the door, Keegan is the way to do it. A way to a Toon fan's heart is through Keegan. Exactly. And by making the appeal, they build it up even further while also denying themselves room to manouevre. And meanwhile, Toon + Keegan doesn't necessarily = Success. He did all right last season, but not enough to take it for granted that he'd be a roaring success all over again if only he had a bit more transfer money.
  10. You're missing his basic point, which that they're on his back writing shite about him before he's even got going.
  11. So basically if Shepherd were still in charge we would of been fishing in the bosman market? With Allardyce as manager.
  12. Above all, it's a relief to have someone involved who actually talks -- even though he doesn't seem to know much more about what's going on than the rest of us. Comes over as honest, realistic and likeable.
  13. Yes and so is the UK. I wouldn't go to Australia to have my ankle looked at just like you wouldn't come to the UK to have your ankle looked at. Anyway, I'm not talking about the NHS. Can you imagine a footballer on a six month waiting list for an operation? People are talking bollocks. Private e.g. BUPA hospitals (like the one's who do all the player medicals for transfers) is where these players go. Are people trying to tell me the UK isn't one of the top 10 countries for medicine? Don't be silly. oook... im telling you, UK is not one in the top 10 countries in the world.... when it comes to medicine Beat me to it. LoveIt - I would have thought the might have signified I was being somewhat facetious, taking the piss out of your ingorance and jingoism. Of course professional sportsmen get private medical attention. I was just amused by someone from a nation of mediocre health care trying to dismiss the average health care found in said sportsman's home country. It's funny how I get called ignorant (I noticed the irony that you spelt "ignorance" incorrectly) and a jingoist merely because I think that Britain (as one of the richest countries in the world) has comparable medical experts and facilities to other developed nations. At no point did I say British medical people/facilities are 'better' than Australian ones. The point was, why send someone half way round the world to have his ankle looked at? Stupid argument anyway but can someone list the most advanced medical nations then? I'm sure it will include the likes of USA, Germany, Britain, Australia, Switzerland, South Africa, Japan, Canada, France, etc. I said to my GP in Berlin today that I was "coming to the conclusion that the German health system is completely mad." He replied: "You're an intelligent fellow. Why has it taken you so long to figure this out?"
  14. Well, it's four times the money I thought he was after. Meanwhile, some of the same people who "believe" in KK and his "love for the club" are suggesting that Ashley should sell up for less than he could in order to leave a buyer with enough funds to play fantasy football. The more I follow this story, the more I am convinced that the last manager we should be appointing is Keegan. We are hearing that all these faceless consortia want to bring him back; even that some bids are conditional on his return. That suggests we are worth little as a club without him. To the degree that might be true, it's a circumstance the club should be correcting. Not least because it makes a man who's already taking an £8 million civil action against the club -- and who has a history of walking out -- into some kind of unassailable figure.
  15. I'm banking on loacal hero Shepherd to save the club rather than plough his money into some mediocre Spanish outfit near a beach resort. Yeah, he'll bring back Bellamy and double ticket prices for cockneys. And that figure, whom you despise so much, made an unparallelled impact in comparison to some of the blokes you've idolised in recent years. Try working on a sense of humour, you self-important twerp.
  16. I'm banking on loacal hero Shepherd to save the club rather than plough his money into some mediocre Spanish outfit near a beach resort. you're losing your rag aren't you No I believe you. That is why I'm banking on Shepherd and Halls to step in and save our club from these profit-motivated sharks. Between them they owned the club, so no doubt can own it again rather than sell out for a profit. Like you, I believe in Hall and Shepherd. Yeah, there's no way they'd cause Keegan to resign or sell the club to someone like Mike Ashley.... Oh, hang on....
  17. I'm banking on loacal hero Shepherd to save the club rather than plough his money into some mediocre Spanish outfit near a beach resort. Yeah, he'll bring back Bellamy and double ticket prices for cockneys.
  18. No, it was John Barnwell who was on the end of those threats. So what did he threaten him with?
  19. What did he threaten them with? No more "exclusives"? Fist in the gob?
  20. To start with Glen Johnson wasn't on a Bosman, Sidwell agreed to join Chelsea even before Ashley bought out Sir John Hall and Distin signed for Portsmouth on the day Ashley bought those shares so I'm not sure how that stopped Distin coming here when the sale came out of the blue according to Shepherd, we were in for Ben Haim but he turned us down publicly for Chelsea so again I'm not sure what that has to do with the takeover. Yeah but, hey, Roberto Carlos was obviously just dying to come and play for Allardyce.
  21. It's a pity this interview isn't online anywhere. I bet there's a fair few nuggets in there.
  22. It'd be a laugh, I suppose, to hear Shepherd's self-serving account of the "fake sheikh" incident.
