  1. I don't have the facts to hand at the moment but when I do, you'll be the first person I tell about it So on what do you base the statement that they're in the s***? I'm not going to waste my time trawling the internet to find an article that backs up what i've heard just to appease a numpty on here. If i've heard wrongly then so be it. I see. So you are essentially just talking out of your arse. Maybe a job on the Chronicle beckons? No, i'm posting what i've heard and read and I never claimed otherwise. Have you got a problem with that Ozzie? Then why not just admit all you're posting is gossip, instead of flinging insults at someone who's interested in what's actually going on? I've never said I wasn't posting gossip, have I? I've posted what i've read from a fairly reputable source yesterday that I don't have the time or care to search for at the moment. I read that Bauger have had to pump more money into some of the high street stores they've bought as they aren't performing aswell as they'd have hoped and this has, in turn scuppered the deal they were working towards to buy BHS. When and if I find said link i'll post it up on here but until then please take your holier than thou attitude and shove it up your arse. "According to a source close to the North Pole, reports that the Baugur group is financially healthy are wide of the mark."

  4. Are "foreign" investors necessarily more flighty than English ones? These people own loads of stuff in the UK -- the House of Fraser, Hamley's, the Iceland chain and suchlike. Any evidence these are being run as playthings?
  5. Same in Bulgaria but, I put it to the honourable gentleman, NOT in Iceland.

  7. To be fair, the "British media" can hardly be blamed for the Iceland story.
  8. Even if there is some truth in it, it might not make a difference. The Icelanders might acquire some of the ownership, but Mort stay as chairman, or whatever. It might mean extra investment in both playing staff and facilities. Who knows? But it wouldn't necessarily be bad. Like Ashley, these aren't mere speculators, but people who run solid, successful businesses. Don't think of it as a new upheaval, but a sign that the previous upheaval hasn't quite yet settled down.

  10. FFS, that was his first proper game for over a year.
  11. Maybe we'll see an Iceland-Ashley consortium emerge to buy Benneton, or something.
  12. It is too long, though. You should do a curt summary of the main points so that it fits on one page, and put that at the beginning.
  13. You got my applause, anyway! I must also compliment whoever it was that used the expression "volcano-hugger" above.
  14. I'm surprised Man City haven't been getting more votes.
  15. He seems honest and says the right things. But that's a lawyer for you. It's hard to judge what he's really doing as we don't know quite what's going on behind the scenes. I was encouraged to hear talk about investing in the academy and training facilities and other backstage stuff as this is evidence of the right kind of long-term thinking as well as providing the sort of infrastructure a manager with Allardyce's skill set needs. The lack of bullshit is a refreshing change after years of Shepherd and I like the emphasis on doing things "properly". I'm happy enough for now.
  16. Mostly, they seem to own retail enterprises -- like Ashley.
  17. Pini Zhavi is a close friend of Roman who has also suggested and done the deal for the new Israeli coach to come to Chelsea. PZ has a villa on the Cote de Azur half a km from Romans place and spends time on Roman's yacht Pelorus every time it visits Monaco. They are close friends. You my dear aren't even 'barking' more like a whimper. mackems.gif Would still be Roman buying the player, not Zhavi.
  18. Maybe they're meeting about some piece of business to do with their retail empires, and it's nothing to do with the club.
  19. Hasn't Shearer said on many occasions that he has no plans off becoming a manager anytime soon? And besides, Pálmi said in the interview that Newcastle had a great manager. Allardyce also has a four-year contracts, so it would cost us a sum if we sacked him. Oh, I didn't mean Shearer would become the manager. I was thinking, Shearer would become part-owner and maybe DOF or something, and Allardyce wouldn't want to work for him.
  20. Shearer would stand to make a few bob out of it. If there's any truth in all this, then they'll be giving him a share because they feel they need some kind of local connection/figurehead. That, of course, would probably mean Allardyce out of here. And I suppose the £30 million debt-clearing would be so no one can say Ashley left the club in worse state than he found it. New owners would have to fork out that much extra, at least, and wouldn't be able to take it back out of the club.
  21. I don't see what the £30 million could have to do with it, in that surely wouldn't put more than £30 million on the price.
