  1. We can forget competing with any of Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool or Arsenal. Right now it looks like the teams we have to best are Everton, Tottenham, Man City, Blackburn, Portsmouth, Villa and West Ham.
  2. Why didnt anyone else think of that! Because a Man U win is the best result for us. A draw is what I'd want for, say, Villa-Man City or Spurs-Everton.
  3. You forgot "mackem WUM". And "backing Souness".
  4. You forgot "mackem WUM".
  5. I think Leazes simply saw the word "nonsense" in the title and, having a bountiful supply at hand, decided to contribute some of it.
  6. Hoping Man U win because it's a miles better result for OUR chances.
  7. So how many other people's fantasy teams do you have to get interested in, then, given that you're competing against them all? The ones closest to you And they're all on this match thread, are they?

  9. I can understand that. See, old friend of mine plays NFL fantasy football quite a bit. We're both Buffalo fans. One Sunday we're watching the game together and a player on the other team breaks out and scores. I'm devastated, and he's acting as if we'd just scored. I ask him what the deal is, and he goes on about how that player is in his team and how he may have just won for the week or something. Fantasy Football can be cool, but this guy is starting guys playing against his own team. Gotta be a line somewhere, right? Aye, there is a teeny bit of that in it. It's a bit like betting against your own team. But mostly it's just completely fucking boring. Even the people who are busting to tell everyone about their own fantasy team aren't interested in anyone's else's.
  10. It's a pity that Villa won, but otherwise results have gone pretty well for us today.
  11. Will some techie type please invent an "ignore" function for posts concerning people's fantasy teams?
  12. Good article. Warmed the cockles of me 'eart, that did.
  13. wasnt the reason the Mascherano deal took so long, because it blatenly broke rules that a player cant play for 3 clubs in 1 year. I thought the time delay was because they needed to come up with an excuse so liverpool could break the rules? No, no. It was obviously the Global Anti-Scouser Conspiracy.

  15. And possibly achieved some fantastic accomplishments.
  16. It's actually subliminal identification. It's a defence mechanism that shows a sign of anxiety. ie Look I'm talking about 'the football club'...I'm not here don't look at me or blame me....etc... but he was talking about the club,is he supposed to talk about it without mentioning it ? I thought the idea of what Brummie was saying was repitition. No? was it ? thought it was the use of the term football club instead of just club "I always considered Stuart Pearce to be the worst (although both MON and SA are occasional offenders), but today I've seen two interviews with Sammy 'Championship' Lee, where he uses the term about 12 times." Brummie. I think his point is not so much that Little Sammy says it a lot, but that the word "football" is, in this instance, entirely unnecessary. But why does he? Why does he what?

  18. Haha yeah, and when people say 'arksed' instead of asked. That does grind my gears a bit. Also when English people pronounce foreign words in an English way. Like MaLLorca instead of Majorca. (as in actually say the L's) To be fair to Motson, I know a reporter in central Europe who met him before a game in Slovakia or somewhere, and Motson was quizzing him about the correction pronounciation of all the players' names and so on. My friend was impressed by his attention to detail. No one cares though, and if the whole world pronounces it one way, so should he. Or it's just annoying. Disagree. It always grates on my ears when I know the correct pronounciation, and they're getting it wrong. I hate the way Lawrenson and others call Hamann "Ha-mann", for example.

  20. It makes me laugh when they describe something as "a great piece of skill". I mean, you can hardly have "a crap piece of skill".
  21. At least he doesn't talk about himself in the third person.
  22. was that a dig at me? cos i was taking the piss mate... nah it wasnt, I havent even read what you said. My point was just part of what BB is moaning about is the amount weve spent, when imo it means nothing when you consider souness spent 50million If spending money means nothing (i.e. doesn't increase the chances of success), do you believe that Chelsea would have been champions twice in the last three seasons without Abramovic's oil dollars? If spending money means everything, do you believe that Bolton would be in the UEFA Cup this season?
  23. You people still don't see the point the OP is making, I think we can all acknowledge that improvements have been made, he's just questioning whether we've made big enough strides to propell us to were we feel we should be. Personally with the improvements to our squad and to the squads of the other teams in the league, I think we'll finish in 8th or 9th, better than last year but still mid table and out of Europe. That's the point he's making, he was hoping for better, me too if I'm honest. If Ashley had said when he took over I'm going to give Big Sam the grand total of £7mill to spend on players this summer then a think a lot of people would have been disappointed, most would have expected at least £20mill, "the blokes a Billionaire for goodness sake". Who would expect us to get where we "should" be after just one transfer window, with a new manager, in a difficult market, with wholesale replacements and urgent strengthening needed first and foremost, during the upheaval involved in a takeover of the club?
  24. Looks like a done deal: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/c/chelsea/6960495.stm
