I'm struggling to see why he'd leave us for PSG, especially when they could be losing Mbappe. PSG aren't the side they were in previous years and they'll definitely not be winning the Champions League any time soon. As a south American he will surely want to angle towards Barca or Madrid if its abroad, but if he was to stay in England it'd be somewhere like City where he'd win plenty of trophies. Its fairly obvious where Newcastle are aiming to be in the coming years and I'm sure that's been sold to him, so I find it hard to believe he'd leave for the likes of PSG but I guess we'll soon find out.

I don't think the league gets a Conference League spot unless a team already in Europe wins the League Cup. I think a team in Europe has to win the FA Cup as well for a second EL spot.

After Sunderland we only have 2 games in four weeks (3 if we beat Sunderland) so our squad should get a good rest and get back to a decent level of match readiness. Its also another month for the injured players to come back hopefully, and maybe we'll make a signing or two. January has the potential to be absolutely rank but better days are ahead this season.

Yeah Arsenal away is the only one I'd be fearful of, the rest are winnable and with a week between games and a winter break over us we should be able to get a good solid run together. If we get anything in January then I'm happy because in my mind I've written all 3 games off in our current state. Beating the mackems and getting another cup run going would be class as well.

Gonna be absolute scenes on here if Wolves and Chelsea go above us and we're 11th at some point in January. Before you panic just look at the fixtures after January.

PIF are here two years and have spent hundreds of millions over four transfer windows. 8th should be worst case scenario now. I think we’ll easily finish top 8 and we’ll rally again after January and finish maybe top 6. Next season is the 4th season our owners are here and expectations are surely growing well beyond top 8. Especially after another two transfer windows. If Eddie can turn this round and get us top 6 imo he’ll prove he’s the man to take us on further.

Problem is we’ve spent a lot of money to the point that the owners probably won’t be happy with just a top ten finish. After two years and hundreds of millions spent they probably want European football regularly going forward, even if it’s just Conference League. Eddie has to turn this round in the second half of the season and it’s not just recent form, the away form for the whole season needs sorting out.

Everything we’ve done so far has been positive though, we haven’t seen them react to a failure to the magnitude of a bad league position.

Howe wouldn’t get anywhere near a relegation battle. We’re not a relegation scrap club now, any sniff of that and he’d be gone. Honestly a lot of us would be happy to give him another shot next season if he finished 9th or something but PIF would be furious that after getting Champions League football last season we’ve missed out on Europe completely this season and might think differently. We don’t know how they’d react to that.
