I have said that I want a creative player with flair as well as decent pace. Personally I’ve never seen ASM as the solution for this. Especially against teams defending deep. I’m hopeful that they will get someone in for that right side. If not then I can see us dropping much more points than we would with one in, despite dominating the game overall. Think teams will be more aware and most importantly less naive when they play us. Especially the lesser teams.

Creative/flair right sided forward, LB and a backup CB that can challenge please. (Ideally)

Imo it doesn’t need to be a 10. It could be say a right sided forward that is creative. There are creative players with work rate and pace out there that we could use in all kinds of games. Quick 1-2s hasn’t really helped us that much against low block defences as there is next to no space (quite a few occasions). I think teams playing against us this coming season will be “less naive” and try to sit deeper and frustrate us. Id be very surprised if there isn’t any creative players out there that would fit in to our team and style. Doesn’t have to be a dedicated creative player. I think as we evolve we need to be able to adapt and play different styles at times. Even if we have our “base style”. That’s just my opinion and view in it. Time will tell how well we do against low block defending teams. And yeah, having a more creative player doesn’t mean we have to change our style. Just the player himself will help to drag players out of position and unlock and make things happen in tight spaces.

I’m surprised how many on here don’t see/or choose to not see our lack of creativity? Even more teams this season will try to limit our game when it comes to transitional play. Tactically decide that the best thing against us is to sit deep. Especially the “lesser teams”. Transfer window ain’t closed yet but imho we need some real flair and creativity to not drop too many points against the “lesser” sides. I’m sure it’s been mentioned before but it kind of feels like it’s been pretty quiet on this overall. Maybe I have missed it as I haven’t been too active lately because of vacation.

Think he will do well but we need some more creativity in. Especially against teams that sit deep. This is where we struggled last season.

I will miss him and sad so see him go. But I’m ok with him going depending on how much it helps us. I don’t want Barnes however.

I didn’t discount Gordon. I said that he hasn’t showed it YET! That he is top quality and i don’t think that Howe and the rest see him as that yet either. He might do very well this season or in the future. Time will tell. Also pointless to count Barnes because he hasn’t signed. iF he does then yeah. I don’t think my point is irrelevant as it’s my opinion, and as by the sounds of it the club has been looking for a wide player(s)for quite some time (even after Gordon). As of NOW I don’t think the club see it the way and thinking naah we are well stocked. Especially when our best one is never fit.

I don’t even think we will sign Barnes.

We haven’t even signed Barnes Plus I think Gordon was signed more for the near future/long term because the opportunity arrived. English premium and all that. Gordon hasn’t shown anything (Yet) to be called top quality and I doubt Howe/Ashworth see him as that yet. Howe has talked about us going for a very small pool of players because of their quality. That’s the kind of players I think they see as elite, just like Tonali for example. To say we are “stocked” in wide areas might right to a degree. But not when it comes to top quality. We lack creativity from out wide to name one thing.

We might be “stocked” but I’d be shocked if the club isn’t looking to sign a top quality wide player at least. We don’t have one single top quality player out wide. Doesn’t sound like the ambitions of the club to believe we have enough out wide (quality)

I wouldn’t want either tbh. Wouldn’t be upset or anything but I don’t think any of the two is the way to go.

Would be too many windows in a row without strengthening our RW imo. Can’t see us not doing it tbh. (Very much hope so!!)

I would prefer a more technical player with flair. One that offers more in general play. A creative one that can unlock deep defending teams. I think we have evolved from the team we were in the beginning, obviously. Transitional play will still be an important aspect of our team but I think we need more of other ingredients against the lesser teams.
