I still think we are being difficult and lowballing for a reason. Also that this FFP chatter is a disguise to some degree. We don’t want to do exactly what the world thought we would do. Spend money like there’s no tomorrow. If we gave in and just paid up without too many second thoughts then we would get our pants pulled down even more, time after time and then again. There’s been so much talk of richness and spending obscene amounts. I don’t think we will spend insanely ridiculous amounts of money, neither could we really. This is the biggest reason deals are taking so long imo. We have to set the tone early on, to let people know that we aren’t gonna do it quite the way everyone or most thought. Feed the dog a massive beef a few times and it won’t be happy with a tiny sausage after a while. Is it frustrating? Yes to a degree. However I also think the people in charge know exactly what they plan to do to make it work both short term and long term. You can already read and hear whispers about people saying “oh they aren’t doing what I thought, they are doing it in a very sensible way so far. I don’t wish to make it sound like a proper conspiracy theory which it might to some. To me it’s business basics. Whether you are buying a car or a house. And I know basically fuck all regarding these things. I genuinely believe that the club feeds media exactly what they wish everyone to hear.

Having Maddison in the last third will make us sooooo much more unpredictable in an attacking sense. Will we attack through the centre playing one twos for example, or will we mostly do it from wide. Now its more often than not from wide. Too easy to read.

Aye maybe. But then again I personally don’t think Diaby would have been worth the money quoted, and the club thought the same. Let’s see this time. I think Maddison is worth it. Even if we have to get one or two players on loan to fill out.

I know for sure as hell that I’d rather get Maddison and then CHO on loan than go big for Diaby and have the midfield we have now, or a much lesser midfield player on loan. Can’t underestimate the effect a signing like Maddison would have. Both on the rest of the team as well as the whole vibe around the place. Other players would grow massively in belief. Mental aspect is important too, not just the player we sign, but others.

Well I wouldn’t have a clue either way how they see it. I reckon they see that we have the chance to get a top class player that is next to no risk. They might even be prepared to high enough because of this. Impossible to say really. I was just saying how I see it. That it’s not easy to get “cheap” players as proven and next to no risk whatsoever like Maddison. (my guess and how I see it)

Its not easy to only do bargains like Bruno. Few and far between imo. Never mind ones that seem willing to come. Bruno was a ridiculously good deal for a ridiculous players. Not many of them out there. Even he could have flopped really. Maddison is next to no risk. Plus a proven scorer which always cost more

100% agree with this mate. We won’t get a winger that is near as good or low risk as Maddison. We can still get another good winger to replace/compete with Almiron that is better too maybe,without costing a bomb. Maddison is reasonably versatile too. We have the chance to get a top class player here. Not that many out there that we can attract. Similar reason to why i have been beating the Paqueta drum too.

Unless we’ve made a final “take it or leave it” offer and refuse to go back.

Hopefully we make it happen. It wouldn’t be a bad price really.

Im not saying we are doing it wrong, but we could also be doing it wrong. We have good people in place but it doesn’t mean that everything we do is the absolute right way. By the sounds of it from some it seems we can do no wrong . I’m just talking in general here. Not aimed directly at you mate.

Bruno playing one twos with Maddison and him making runs into the box. Plus his long shots with both feet, set pieces and so on. Would be a wow signing.

I’ve been beating the midfielder drum relentlessly so I’ll say Maddison without doubt. Give Bruno a top class player in front of of him to ping pong with and it’s looking golden in that area. Plus I think it will help us control games better when in possession. Obviously wouldn’t mind a right sided player either. I think we will get one of them too.

One strengthens the 1st team massively the other one doesnt. We will get both.

Looks like we might be spending close to 100m before the window closes. If the right deals show up.

To me it feels like if this deal has any chance of happening then it probably needs to be done reasonably quickly.

One would hope that something like 50m + add ons might do it. Even at 60m I think he’d be worth it. Quality player who will also raise the game and belief in our other players. Would be absolutely massive signing in so many ways.
