Imagine how many more points we'd have on the board with someone like that captaining the side and marshalling the defence. Chalk and cheese. Aye, he would be absolutely perfect together with Mbemba. Mbemba was good yesterday, strong in the air as well imo.

I agree, the spine is more important. At the same time if we're going to play without width we're going to struggle when it comes to stretching the opposition out of their positions which will result in us finding it hard creating clear cut chances as the box will be too crowded. If we had ambition we'd correct all the weak spots, at least in our starting eleven to begin with.

With Wijnaldum out on the left (starting position) we're pretty much a one legged man on the left hand side as our LB's are awful all of them. Except maybe Mbabu but it's early days, and we need a natural LB with end product. If Gini's going to play there then we need a quality LB, even more so than usual.

We didn't sign enough players before this season, and despite being shit we will not even do it now in january, at least not near enough. And even IF we tried it'll be harder to attract quality now. Pathetic mess of unambitious shit cunts running this club. I fucking wish i could stay away and cut my connection with this should be fantastic football club. Best time ever was last season when i was abroad and didn't have the will/time to follow this club at all, and i felt like a new human being. Thank fuck i'm leaving in late dec again.

I've seen progress as well It's just so frustrating that we have so many weak spots.

It's funny that when we attack we are not even using our CM's Because the combination of our "wingers" not being natural wide men and our CM being absolutely shit makes them go in to more central areas very often which makes us very narrow. When this happens we lose players going forward (our cm not participating) and width. Especially when Dummett offers nothing going forward and Janmaat who's too slow to take on that flank on his own. I rate Janmaat without a player staying out wide and taking players on he can't do it all himself. Because of this it gets too crowded in the central areas imo, and it makes it hard for us to stretch the opposition out of shape often enough and much easier for them to defend. Yes we scored lots of goals against Norwich, but lets not kid ourselves as on the day we were incredibly effective but most of all they were very naive and open all over the place. We have some very promising players, but at the same time not near enough of them (obvious i know). If we are going to play Gini and Moussa out wide we're gonna need different kind of fullbacks, especially at LB. We have so many positions that need to be filled, unfortunately we didn't do near enough before this season. A few good players in our team but most of the rest are utterly dross

We don't have quality in enough positions tbh...

The icing on the cake will be Janmaat out for a few months, would be typical. If only we had some squad depth..
