Pretty sure Bruno said somewhere down the line that we needed to be back in the CL, and I would have thought that meant qualifying at the end of this campaign. The squad we have now is going to get top 6-8 I would have thought, and that's being generous.

Seems weird that we are trying to find players on a budget but can't afford Chalobah on loan or Depay on a free then, since both would fit our transfer target areas as RCB and RW specialists. But I guess there is probably more to it than that.

Don't think we've looked particularly solid personally, the goals we've conceded against Forest and Bournemouth were pretty awful. Can't imagine what better front lines would do to us.

He's looked underwhelming every time I've watched him, never understood the hype around him. He doesn't play RW either as far as I'm aware.

For me only one person wins that war if that's how it's going down, because the old model where a manager does everything is never going to work with FFP/PSR restraints. Mitchell is the one with the pedigree for buying low/selling high. Or at least I presume he is, I don't follow his career specifically. Howe is a superb coach, that's what we need him to be responsible for. I would like to think he'll continue to have plenty of input into signings he wants, and I presume that's why we wasted a load of time chasing Guehi.

Next summer's transfer window should be interesting, because the repercussions of this shit show will be felt then. If we finish out of Europe then I would imagine our better players will have got fed up waiting to play CL again and we'll be selling as many as we'll be buying.

If he didn't have belief in Howe, why would he have spent the whole window trying to bring in Guehi on huge money to try to give him the player he (presumably) wants? All we really know is that he failed to land Guehi, and there was no back up plan. Even that begs the question who is it that thought the alternatives weren't any better than what we already have? Was that Mitchell or Howe?

Yes he is, and ultimately he'll be held responsible. But are we assuming Mitchell is bad at his job based on what he's produced in 6 weeks?

Crystal Palace held onto Guehi AND signed Chalaboah on loan from Chelsea. Would Chalaboah really not have been good enough to do better than Krafth as a CB?
