  1. For me only one person wins that war if that's how it's going down, because the old model where a manager does everything is never going to work with FFP/PSR restraints. Mitchell is the one with the pedigree for buying low/selling high. Or at least I presume he is, I don't follow his career specifically. Howe is a superb coach, that's what we need him to be responsible for. I would like to think he'll continue to have plenty of input into signings he wants, and I presume that's why we wasted a load of time chasing Guehi.

I've just made that exact point in the other thread about rating this summer's transfer window.
  3. Next summer's transfer window should be interesting, because the repercussions of this shit show will be felt then. If we finish out of Europe then I would imagine our better players will have got fed up waiting to play CL again and we'll be selling as many as we'll be buying.
  4. If he didn't have belief in Howe, why would he have spent the whole window trying to bring in Guehi on huge money to try to give him the player he (presumably) wants? All we really know is that he failed to land Guehi, and there was no back up plan. Even that begs the question who is it that thought the alternatives weren't any better than what we already have? Was that Mitchell or Howe?
  5. Yes he is, and ultimately he'll be held responsible. But are we assuming Mitchell is bad at his job based on what he's produced in 6 weeks?
  6. Fair point, but can only assume Palace got a different loan fee quote than ourselves since they had no problem coughing it up.
  7. Crystal Palace held onto Guehi AND signed Chalaboah on loan from Chelsea. Would Chalaboah really not have been good enough to do better than Krafth as a CB?

Which one do you think is responsible for identifying transfer targets and negotiating deals? Because if it's Eales, I don't know why he bothered hiring someone else to do the job.
  9. Hope he doesn't drop one of them, might tweak a hamstring stooping down to pick it up.

I thought that was Mitchell's department. Isn't he the one doing the deals to move players out and bring new ones in?

Just feels like people want to throw shit in every direction without really caring where it lands.

Ah right. I thought it was maybe because he bought a dog and was expected to bark himself.
  13. We haven't really tried that hard, how much does it cost for a can of Raid?

I'm slightly bemused. Why is Eales responsible for a shit transfer window?

I'm sure, but we can only comment on what we know has happened. Anything else we are just pulling out of thin air.
  16. I think next summer will be interesting. Not sure the January window is one which you can usually get long term targets.

You don't think putting this in motion a week ago might have paid better dividends?

Well if that wasn't a surefire way of shooting a deal dead before it got off the ground I don't know what is.

    Malick Thiaw

Didn't want to come here according to some reports.

    Joe Willock

Yeah was thinking that. He was really bombing at full pelt on Wednesday, and it was a glorious sight. You can only imagine he felt really good in himself after a proper rehabilitation period, so hopefully it does just turn out to be a dead leg.
  21. There was talk that Ashworth expected more of a say in transfer dealings though. Whether that's true or not I can't say, but it was out there.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

Pretty sure Eddie will have wanted at least one more signing as well, particularly a good quality CB.

    Marc Guehi

Yep. Liverpool or A.N.Other will take him for around £45-50m further down the line would be my guess. Maybe we can send that gif back their way when it happens.
