Don't think Spurs play a particularly intense press so that might allow us to play our stuff a bit today.
-
Well there was a buyer for Miggy but they weren't going to pay £15m for him. I think they offered half of that which was a fair price in my mind, but I think the argument was we couldn't replace him if he went.

I left to have some lunch 20 mins ago. It's still going!
-
Longstaff starting ahead of Tonali...
-
What is becoming more and more clear is that age is everything when it comes to transfer fees. Our coaching set up might think Miggy is a first team player ahead of Elliott or Minteh, but other clubs are never going to give us £15m for him, while they'll happily pay double for players outside our first team pool who they think have a higher ceiling.

Someone at the club really seems to rate him despite opinions on here not concurring.

https://blog.transferroom.com/inside-the-long-term-project-to-rebuild-as-monaco Mentions specifically on there that he thought a 90 day audit was essential to clearing the decks at Monaco. He's been here for about 60 so far I think. Against that, I see he has Red Bull history along with Eales so they might have history there. Not sure what to make of that.

As part of a midfield 3 where he was more left side I believe. From my recollection he ended up drifting wide quite a lot and running into defenders. The one game of his which really stood out in memory is where he came on as a sub and I remember commenting he'd had more impact in 20mins than Longstaff had the whole game.

I thought Mitchell's reputation skyrocketed on the back of the work he did at Monaco? Didn't he revamp the playing squad and turn it into one of the most valuable in Europe during his stint? Also reduced their age profile significantly from what I read. Fan insights are sometimes informative as they give you an inside look, but some of the shit you read on forums is uninformed nonsense like.
-
From what I've seen he's getting to play centre midfield though, which I always assumed was his favoured position. Don't think he got that opportunity here much, he was mainly played on the left where he consistently ran into defenders.
-
Most of the replies were similar nonsense tbh, not really sure they gave much insight. We spent a long time sifting through candidates for a DOF, I'd like to think someone at the club did their research. Although who knows at this point?

I don't think anyone has had a go at our current regime for not being able to shift the dross, they were lumbered with all of the Ashley rejects. The criticism has only really got harsh at this summer's dealing, and that's because it's been a real shambles looking from the outside.
-
Shows how poorly Forest rate Miggy though.
-
I love Isak but I don't think that's true. Haaland is an out and out centre forward, I think Isak has less physical presence, and also less focused on goals alone, but he gives you more in the assists and wide areas.

I was under the impression the only reason we were scrambling round to sell players in June was because we were scared of getting docked points. When it gets to that stage what other alternative do you have? I suppose questions should be asked why it got to that stage, but my impression was that was what led to Staveley and Mehrdad leaving.
-
Wouldn't reflect very well on our transfer business if that was true.
-
He's like Dummett, not really a great footballer, but he can defend. Even when Krafth was getting pelters I always maintained that, but like Dummett, he's awful on the ball. I think it gets amplified when you've got three or four others who are in the same boat, which ends up in us giving the ball away a lot when we come under the press.

I know it's not a popular thought, but I do think it was Amanada and Meherdad who were probably living in dreamland. Eales was the one who first talked about selling Bruno if we had to, and how we would have to get used to the idea of selling stars to comply with PSR. I daresay it was him who set up the Gordon deal before we ended up selling Minteh and Anderson. These sort of deals will make you the matinee arch villain, but someone has to do it unless we want points deducted. That's not an endorsement of Eales by any stretch of the imagination, for all I know he might be more incompetent than the rest. I'm just following the timeline.
-
Probably the same ones who thought we'd have a queue for Miggy at £15m.
-
Pretty sure Bruno said somewhere down the line that we needed to be back in the CL, and I would have thought that meant qualifying at the end of this campaign. The squad we have now is going to get top 6-8 I would have thought, and that's being generous.
-
I fucking hope not otherwise that's another transfer window down the pan.
-
Seems weird that we are trying to find players on a budget but can't afford Chalobah on loan or Depay on a free then, since both would fit our transfer target areas as RCB and RW specialists. But I guess there is probably more to it than that.
-
Don't think we've looked particularly solid personally, the goals we've conceded against Forest and Bournemouth were pretty awful. Can't imagine what better front lines would do to us.
-
He's looked underwhelming every time I've watched him, never understood the hype around him. He doesn't play RW either as far as I'm aware.
