He looks a very good forward technique wise, I wonder if he just doesn't fancy the hard knocks of the Premier league?

Depends what his full value would be otherwise, surely? It depends more on whether the club would rather lose the player for nothing in 12 months or get less than £8m now. Personally I reckon it will take around £8m to shift either Zog or Enrique. Shame Wigan never went down though as it would have been far less then. Yeah, but what I mean is that all out of contract players aren't equal. If he was normally worth £20m he might now be worth 10, but if he was worth 15 he might only be worth 5 or 6. Otherwise all end of contract players would go for a fiver. True. With Charlie and Enrique it has to be a good fee otherwise the respective clubs might just prefer to keep the player. I don't see any decent club out-bidding us tbh so I'm fairly confident.

It looks done and dusted but yeah until he's actually signed you always worry some other club will jump in at the last minute.

Pardew's real test will come next season if we get these signings through the door. We saw with Souness having quality players at your disposal isn't much use if you don't know how to put a team together. That said I like the way Pardew is quite thorough in team preparation and he's getting the type of players I would want him to. I think he will do well personally.

All he has said iis that SJP is a wonderful place to play? Unless Ive missed something? You've missed the rt What was it? Copied on the previous page About SJP being a wonderful place to play? Is this what everyone is getting excited about? That guy said imagine you, HBA and Cabaye playing together - what a team and he retweeted. A tacit recognition that it is about to happen??? I nominate the lad who tweeted the French dream team to Zog as twitter hero of the week. Fabulous PR.

Not much doubt in my mind he would jump at the chance to come back. I think he might be second choice to Gervinho though so we are waiting on his answer.

I'd be more pleased if we got £25million. Well, yeah but we wont ever get that kinda of wedge for him. we won't get £14m for him either.

Even if Pardew was interested in Keane there's no way in hell Mike Ashley would sanction it...and thank fuck for that.

I don't attend that many games these days but when I do the ones around me don't seem that much more clued up tbh. Skunkers should be the most insightful web forum if that's your criteria.

Agreed , quite underated by oppositions fans too, England thing i think clouds things for him with other fans. I just think Nolan for all his faults in the right system and players around him will score 15 goals or so next season, i know he got 12 this season but as someone else pointed out, quite a few tap ins/close range shots after set-pieces/knockdowns but again that just shows he knows where to get himself and thats a fantastic assest to have. If we play the way i think we will (4-3-3) as the more offensive of the 3 central midfielders, i just think it'll suit him perfectly, i know this isn't the best comparison but Cahill at Everton doesn't contribute to much in general play but he also just has that knack, headers from set-pieces aside, Cahill gets on the end things with clever runs and timing. I think you're missing the point. Lampard is fast enough and has a good engine same as Cahill. Nolan is a fat slob who needs time to get in position at either end of the pitch. "Engine" is the key phrase here.

What, like a firing squad? I've nowt against the bloke but he's so far out of his depth at this level it's not funny. Like Best was this time last year. According to forum experts IIRC.

What, like a firing squad? A good strong right winger like Gervinho or N'Zogbia would be ok I think.

No problem with that really. He's not the best going forward but if we get the attacking side right with the players we have targeted then it won't be so important. I quite like James Perch as well given the right set up in front of him. Why? Read the post above yours.

Well Nolan bombing forward sounds nice in theory. In reality he's only usually in the penalty area at set pieces where he has time to get into position while the ball is dead. True but if we are playing a different style, no Carroll means he doesn't have to be in and around him for the knockdowns, if we playing quick passing counter attacking football, he might get the licence to drift about, i've watched him for years and he is very good at finding space in and around the box. to play quick passing counter attack football firstly requires you to be quick in order to be able to hit on the counter. I can't recall a single goal where Nolan has raced even 10 yards never mind half the length of the pitch to score a goal.

Perch is quick and good defensively. I know it's fashionable to slate him but then that happened with Colo and Enrique as well during their first season.

But he is the sort of signing Dalglish would make if we go on his record here. Rush? Barnes? Pearce?
-
Wow. No surprise really. This was the guy who played Kluivert in midfield and Shola up front while Milner and Ambrose were barely considered good enough for the bench.

I think smoking would make a difference but at that age it's probably minimal. Alcohol also has an effect but Barton doesn't look any quicker since he quit.

Don't worry man. If Gameiro doesn't come we've got Berba lined up as option B

Summed up beautifully. A moody twat more than likely, but does things that others could only dream of. Worth buying a season ticket for.
