Ashley is just a useless fat bastard and Whelan is the king. We should start pro-Whelan chants at the ground from now on.
-
If he's young, exciting and in demand I would say there's virtually no chance of us following up on this. We'll get someone in on loan instead.
-
He looked a bit shell shocked after a while....when he had the ball with our players stood still looking at him instead of demanding the ball he probably wondered what was going on.
-
Because we've played so well in central midfield in his absence, yeah I see your point.

A review of the season so far: Have we lost perspective?
TRon replied to The Prophet's topic in Football
CM with legs is a must as well imo. At the moment we're just getting ran off the park in the middle, the game just seems to bypass our midfield. It's almost like we're playing every game with 9 players. Realistically we won't have a limitless budget so I doubt we'll get a quality midfielder AND a striker so if it's a choice a striker is more important for me. We have a few options in the middle, Guthrie or Barton could be given more of a central role in games to come. That said, if Palace are selling players left and right, a cheeky bid for Ambrose wouldn't be the worst bit of business. -
For some reason he's played pretty deep for us, even with Nicky Butt alongside him. I don't know if that's down to instructions or he just can't be arsed to run, much like the rest of them.

I don't know what anyone else's perspective is but mine is that if Ashley pushes the boat out and signs a decent forward it could seal promotion. There was a very real chance we could have got Moses but we didn't really go for it, similar with Kilgallon and Beckford, although the latter was priced out of a move in reality. Routledge and Williamson are decent signings but the Moses one would have shown real intent. -
Anyone who thinks Hughton will be replaced if we get promoted is seriously deluded. That just doesn't happen in the real world.

Seems to me Wigan have got the better of the tat-selling owners. Snapping up the best young talent, signing bright young managers, not hiring speccy arseholes as CEOs etc.

Ashley wipes his arse with Arsenal's blueprint once again.
-
Fuck off Ashley.
-
No point in him coming back here, like Pancrate he'll probably get blamed for the failings in midfield.
-
Last 8 games in all competitions DDDWDLWD As I thought. 11 points from 8 games is pretty worrying.

It's all about perception. For some Wigan is a step up, for others like me, Newcastle, Arsenal or even Leeds are what it's all about. Fair play to the Bolton lad for sticking up for his little club, shame so many Newcastle fans are willing to agree with him.

How many games have we won recently? Is it just me or are the wins looking more unlikely as the season unwinds?

You can see why Liverpool let him go. He's weak as piss and loses the ball far too easily. That's the point. But how's that relevant at all? Liverpool let him go because he's not good enough for Liverpool, he is good enough for us. He isn't good enough for us for the same reasons he was allowed to leave Liverpool. Like I said he's too weak and loses possession and hope. He can't even make a mark dropping down a division. All this bollocks about him being played out of position doesn't excuse him for losing 50/50's and not being able to hold the ball under the slightest pressure. It does really when he has little option, what movement is he surrounded by so he can offload the ball? One point off the top of my head....Van Aanholt overlapped Guthrie in the second half and was in acres of space but Guthrie was too slow to spot the pass and got tackled while he dithered. That was particularly annoying as the young lad quite often went outside but the ball didn't reach him quickly enough (if at all).

Yep, be involved in a nasty relegation battle at a club that likely have 4 months left in the Premiership and will then disapear without a trace. Or be involved in a promotion push where he can establish himself and continue to improve followed by a full season in the Premiership at a much bigger club, I agree its a no brainer. You are not promoted yet, you may not be this season, I understand its a hard adjustment to make, you are a big club with fantastic support, but at the moment you are not competing with Wigan, they are a class above you! Can we get this guy banned? He's blatantly a WUM.
-
You need to understand where you stand in the football pecking order, its several places below Wigan! The view of a fan from another small town club is hardly likely to be relevant.
-
He didn't keep it yesterday, he was constantly harried out of possession even against ten men. Don't know which game you were watching...probably the same one as Johnny who thinks Pancrate coming on as sub was our biggest problem.
-
It will say alot about Ashley if he allows Whelan to win the battle without a fight. i'm not sure i want the club to be ran on the premise of out doing a different club no matter what the issue. we should be looking after ourselves and forgetting about the fortunes of every one else. We have a very small number of young players who are available at the right price so to follow Arsenal's blueprint I would have thought Ashley would have tried a bit harder to get Moses for what is still a knockdown price. It's simple good management of your club.

What if Jonas isn't fit to start? He's still got enough options to pick a far more balanced side than he did yesterday. Hughton shot himself in the foot by leaving it until the 75th min. to get after Leicester's ten men. No getting around that for me.

why MUST we ? i'd guess the lad just wants to get into the prem as soon as possible. because we wont be allowed to speak to him unless we do. unbelievable i know thats up to the player. if man utd offered 1million for him do you think he'd say "ah well only wigans offer has been accepted so i guess i'll go therer" no but Man Utd still wont be allowed to speak to him You don't seem to be up to speed on administration. If Moses refused to sign for Wigan, then the administrator would look at the next best offer on behalf of Palace & its creditors, this process would repeated until highest bid on the table & Moses find a match. The human element makes this tricky for a administrator to deal with as they usually operate in a world where best price is king. As I said above I really cant see Moses/Tony Finnegan turning down a offer that is going to be a hell of lot more than he is on now. The lads a Palace fan, as if he's going to totally screw his club by point blank refusing to talk to the only club who's had an offer accepted for him, only an utter c*** would f*** them up even further then they already have been. He'll choose between the clubs that have had offers accepted for him, Wigan are the only club that have so he'll go their, simple as that. more likely he'll choose the prem over the fizzy pop. He'll choose the team which wants him more IMO. Wigan are going the extra mile, we aren't.
