You can see why Liverpool let him go. He's weak as piss and loses the ball far too easily. That's the point.
  2. We improved quite a lot after Pancrate came on. He's not great but he at least looks reasonably fit, how long that will last I'm not sure.
  3. That was definitely the case yesterday, we were half a yard slower in everything. Even Harper takes too long to throw the ball out and hit the opposition while they are all still out of position. It's like we need as much rest as possible to get our breath back.
  4. I think that's all there is to it sadly. He will have took one look at us on Wednesday and thought "maybe not". Martinez is a key factor I reckon.

Too slow to play on the wing, and he doesn't get up and down the pitch enough. I think that's why a lot of our players prefer to play in the middle, they can jog around in a smaller area and generally coast 90 mins.

I agree with this. Guthrie gets over-praised because the rest of our midfield is decrepit, but he's an ordinary player who lacks the drive or balls to dictate play. Far too easily dominated and will look even worse if we go up.
  7. I thought that myself watching us struggle to keep up with 10 men. It's hard to believe that they are training as hard as they should be.
  8. Would be nice though if we go up and they pass us on their way down. It's more likely that the signing of Moses will keep them up.
  9. Ambrose wouldn't be a bad second prize. The only central midfield player who can really get forward is Nolan, and he's so slow. Would we even play Ambrose in the centre though? Pointless bringing him here as a winger.
  10. Yeah we were impenetrable through the middle He could maybe have justified it against 11 men, but to stick with it for the majority of the game against 10 men was cowardly.

If he's given time and space...which he usually isn't. The opposition midfielders have this nasty habit of taking the ball off him while he dithers.
  12. We just don't want the players enough. Kilgallon, Beckford and now Moses were all keen at some stage but other clubs are winning the fight for the signatures because they are offering more money to either the clubs or the player.
  13. On about a quarter of the wages he was asking from us maybe.
  14. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1247349/Michael-Owen-shown-Manchester-United-door-summer-Sir-Alex-Ferguson-looks-wage-cuts.html Owen is set to be booted out of Man U after only one season according to the Mail. No surprise to see that his main concern is still his horses. As predicted by many he's failed miserably at Man U and thank fuck the little shit didn't take us up on that contract.
  15. if he chose Wigan over us cos of money, great, we dont need any more mercenaries like that at this club. He would not have chosen Wigan due to money and is certainly no merc, the administrators will want the highest dollar they can get for him (not Moses) but if Moses can agree personal terms with Wigan then he will go there, the sale fee is out of his control. Wages are another thing and if a Premiereship club can offer him more and regular football then why should he not go there. Some need to remember that we are no longer the catch we used and havent been for a long while, a player will only come here if we can meet their personal terms and and beat off any competition. No way will we be able to fight against prem clubs for signatures, if we were playing consistant good football and sat with a 12 point lead with a game in hand then I would believe otherwise. You don't become one of the best strikers playing crap football infront of 40k+ loyal fans in the Championship . Bollocks. If we match the fee and personal terms I think we are a big draw for any ambitious young player. Wigan have offered a bigger fee so they are in the driving seat for now. Obviously the kid's in demand so the administrators are waiting to see bids most. It's not bollocks players that have premiership clubs calling on their services would have to think long and hard about joining us (Moses has no time to think long and hard), yes we have a huge fan base and one of the top grounds in the UK but will they be getting the right management, director/owner. What is planned for the summer? another sale of the club? firesale of what decent assets we have should we not be promoted! Ashley hanging on but not providing what is required to stay put! all these questions and more will be running through the heads of up and coming talent/decent players. A premiership club regardless of league position can put them in the shop window against top clubs and should that club not stay up then they can almost certainly shift a good striker on. A player knows this and has nothing to loose other than ending up back in the division he started, but should he prove good enough to mix it then he will remain there as someone would come in for him and I'm sure his contract would take care of that risk. We are not playing good football and we are certainly not guarenteed to go up. Edit: This said I do hope we go up and wish we could secure a decent attacking midfielder and another striker, I heard Moses changed his mind when he found out he wouln't be wearing Addidas next season.. It is bollocks. If Wigan have offered a higher fee then they obviously realise we are a bigger draw and are throwing more money at the situation because otherwise they would lose out.
  16. There are certain vocal critics of Coloccini who are fairly persistent over a long period of time whether he plays well or badly. It's a shame when he's generally been considered one of our best defenders this season by unbiased commentators that he's still getting sniped at on here by our fans.
  17. an example? Resorting to desperate lawyer speak would be a good one.
  18. huh? You didn't have to put your hand up, I might not have been talking about you. I fail to see a bad word about him on this page?.. so to read 'hate mob' without the hate is a bit peculiar. Obviously you'd have to go further back than this page wouldn't you?
  19. huh? You didn't have to put your hand up, I might not have been talking about you.
  20. And the usual Coloccini hate mob show up.
  21. The art of being a manager is to pick the best 11 to do a job on the day, not pick players on reputation or past performances. In many respects I like Chris Hughton, but in this regard he's failed badly IMO. In no way have Smith, Butt or Nolan shown that they are best played together so in reality it's reputation he's picking them on.
  22. Absolutely. Williamson looks the better bet to Taylor from what I've seen so far.
  23. those two could make a really good partnership in all seriousness. If Williamson keeps up these performances obviously. I though Williamson looked good but Coloccini was class. Is it those two you were talking about? Nah was actually S. Taylor and Mike. Today Colo did look good, but worry about him in Premiership.. against better strikers i don't see him faring up well, a bit like last year, he doesnt really have the psychical attributes imo.. which is a shame as he is a cut above in this league. Ok, well you clearly favour certain players and since Owen in a toon shirt is your avatar let's just say we all are entitled to our opinions.
  24. There were fairly vocal chants of "Get out of our club, you fat Cockney bastard" at Leicester today. If I was a fat Cockney bastard I wouldn't feel much inclined to invest in our club today, so I hope a fat Geordie bastard is ready and willing with the necessary readies to get into our club. I would hate to think we'd rather sacrifice promotion this season than go up with Ashley in charge.
