    Chris Hughton

Shearer would want him to stay I'm sure but Hughton himself might find it difficult to go back to the sidelines and would probably consider a manager's job if one came up. Anyway, I don't think anyone would begrudge him his good spell, he had to put up with some shit when he was caretaker last season. I should know I aimed a lot of it his way.
  2. Agree with that tbh, in my previous post about not having high hopes for Barry I neglected to acknowledge this. Although it's not a popular view on here to favour owners who will have more than just a financial interest in the club (and some even consider it a negative) I think it's a massive positive. It's not just like he's a local and therefore expected to be a supporter either, he actually has been involved in the club giving money to fund the academy. In the absence of a mega-rich sugar daddy, I'd rather have someone like Moat give it a go than a Glazer/Hicks-Gillett/Ashley/random consortium who are only in it for the money. Good point.

He's obviously not too bothered about losing out to any of these other south African/American/Malaysian/Arab parties then is he? Maybe he thinks they're a figment of Fat Mike's imagination?

Anyone still blaming Keegan for walking out on this sheister is beyond reason tbh.
  5. What about the public humilation for Keegan when he was haulied very publically, to London for a meeting with Ashley. Does that perhaps tell you any more about whether all was rosy prior to the 30th of August ? it tells me he wasn't happy about not seemingly being able to spend ,was it "wheellbarrows" or some such sum of money and, as would happen at most clubs he get told off for it. as benitez did when he whinged about not being able to buy gareth barry. Do you think Benitez would have been kept in the loop by his employers about the sort of transfer budget that would be available for him? I am just talking about a rough idea so that Benitez would know whether to recommend a bid for Gareth Barry or Kevin Nolan? Somehow I doubt Benitez would have been left to make fantastical wish lists for players he couldn't afford so I'm wondering why Keegan was supposedly chasing players like Lampard, Beckham and Henry in light of the very tight budget we have been operating on during Ashley's reign? Where was the direction and communication?
  6. The tribunal have delivered their verdict/report; there's not going to be any more. Just because nobody is demanding answers they'll never get doesn't mean no-one is bothered. come off it dave. as far as most are concerned the report has answered everything. It's answered the pertinent details, that's why they were able to make a judgement based on it. What are you saying here, that KK shouldn't have walked? The Premier League vindicated his actions and found he was right to do so. That's all that matters to me. no. the details and the lead up may well have been enough to walk but without them we can't know. for example, not for one moment saying this happened but until we know..... keegan wants modric so does NUFC but the player wants to go london. wise wants dierdyok (sorry again re spelling) deal set up,keegan disagrees, deal collapses because of it. keegan wants and gets bassong and guthrie keegan is ok with jonas and coloccini. keegan wants gareth barry and SWP but is told we cant afford them/can't justify spending that much on barry cos of age with little re-sale value. keegan wants to keep milner but understands that the ammoung of cash can't be turned down for the good of the clubs coffers. keegan wants warnock but the player wants lucas neill type money. would your view of what happened change if this was the scheme of things ? yes technically keegan was right to walk over the gonzalez deal but i'm pretty sure plenty of managers have put up with a permanent signing not made/sold by them (robinho, speed, duff, shevchenko, apparently) Keegan was clearly being led up the garden path by Ashley and his team, you might recall his complaints on tv that he found it very hard to get hold of Ashley to discuss things and was pretty much just left to get on with things while the big boys sat in London. Keegan also gave the impression when he took the job that he believed there would be significant money to spend. There was definitely a general consensus in the media at the time that this was the case.
  7. Tbf I would prefer a carzy billionaire owner to buy us out but as it's unlikely to happen I can't be arsed wondering "what if...?"
  8. It would be nice if we pulled a wealthy foreign investor so we could compete with the big boys but in the event we don't we have to live within our means. This is one aspect of Ashley's ownership I agree with to some extent. While the fat fool took it too far and has proven to be completely dishonest, the club will be better off in the long term through budgeting properly. If Moat comes in all I would really expect is that the money generated from a club like ours is pumped back into future development, it's madness to pay inflated fees and wages to the likes of Michael Owen to railroad them into coming here.

This worries me. How will he fund the day to day running of the club, and how much would we have to invest in new players? I couldnt give a flying how much money he has to spend as long as he runs the club correctly, Ashley has a lot more money than were lead to believe Moat has, but how much has he spent on transfers ? Get a grip we need shot of Ashley asap, the guy is a lying bafoon of the highest possible order. When Sir John sold to Ashley we jumped out of the frying pan into the fire. We all hated Fat Fred. I want rid of Ashley as much as anyone, but I don't want the club dragged into further s****. What would Moat do differently that would drag us into further s****? If he hasn't got his own money to invest, it's not like Ashley is investing any of his, however much he's worth. only spent around a 250 millon on the club He spent it thinking he was going to make money at the end of the day, as soon as it became clear that it wasn't a money spinner he stopped investing and started asset stripping.
  10. Man City has billions and couldn't get either yeah I feel really sorry for them like.

  12. Yeah but if you have Sky you can watch every Premier game with extended 1hr highlights of your club which I really miss.

Don't know why people are getting so excited. We already knew Moat wanted to buy the club and we know that Ashley won't sell unless he gets an offer he can't refuse. Are we there yet? Not quite, this still looks like negotiations in progress to me.
  14. Like Smith and Nolan would look a much better player in the championship, yes. That wasn't the point I was making, i'd have him back even if we were in the premiership. He's better than anything we have now on the right wing. We only sold Milner because we got an offer for £12m for him. Even if we failed to replace him I still think that's the best price he'll fetch in his career.

Dennis Wise is a lying little c*** but he's more ITK than Silli Sod will ever be, which is why I'm worried that our good start to the season will have tempted Ashley to hold onto the club. Keegan's victory and public exposure of the rotten regime at Newcastle is our best hope that Ashley will take the offer and go. If he stays he risks running a gauntlet of hate if things go wrong, which they inevitably will. In bold, I thought he was just stirring it because he/they lost the argument and he hates to lose, horrible little turd. Also Richard Keys was so far up Wise's arse he disappeared. Stirring or not, it jsut doesn't seem Ashley's nature to give up the chance of a potential jackpot when there's one in sight. He could well scupper this deal and unless the lynch mob turns up he probably will.
  16. That's what I have said as well. Those who object to Keegan only offer vague reasons like "we need to move on" but it's telling that no names are ever mentioned. Alan Curbishley is about the best name I've heard mentioned but do I think he's a better manager than Keegan? Honestly, no.

  18. Sounds to me like he wants to return to football but thinks that the fans might not take to him coming back here again. Plus there's the Shearer factor there now as well.
  19. I remember saying last season that he was hiding in some games and it's disappointing that he hasn't stepped up to the plate even at this level. I have severe doubts about him now, he's got the ability to perform much better than he's shown but he seems easily dominated by even mediocre opposition.

    Keegan or Shearer?

Summed up pretty well. You have to look beyond a few results and look at the style of play being established and the mood of the camp which was sky high before Wise and Ashley started playing games. As someone else mentioned Owen was looking to extend his contract such was the optimism at the time. Although I agree with Fatty on that one, it was right to bomb him out.

That's a bit like saying Elizabeth Taylor has been happily married 8 times. That's funny...but can you actually make a case that he hasn't done a good job twice without the humour? The second time, he amassed about 3 points in the first eight matches, before the good players returned from injury and we went on a good little 4 or 5 match run through the Sunderland match...at which point the season fizzled out. Then, we had an average start to the next season...before he quit...four matches in. He was an improvement on Fat Sam, but it wasn't great times or anything. 'before the good players returned'...nowt to do with Keegan's tactics? Better tell Man U to get rid of Ferguson, it was Ronaldo that won them 3 titles! Why couldn't Allardyce get Owen, Martins and Viduka playing well? Under Keegan was those three players best ever spells for the club. The reason Keegan started off slowly is because he inherited Allardyce's team which was low confidence and playing s*** football. Once Keegan implemented his own tactics we were flying. As for an average start to the next season? Four point from Man U, Bolton and Arsenal plus through to the second round of the cup...that's average? Bloody hell. Christ, all you do is mock peoples responses and post that damn facepalm picture. It's repetitive and boring. Viduka, Martins, Barton all came back from injury and we got an easier run of fixtures. We went on a good run of about five matches. That's it. Fulham, Reading, Spurs, Pompey (I think), and Sunderland. After that we have average results. Tbh, our results in the next season were nothing to shout about either. We got a creditable draw against an undermanned Man U, laboured to victory against Bolton, struggled to beat a Championship side with a pretty strong team, and were humiliated by Arsenal. That's average. Kinnear was rubbish, and Keegan was obviously better, but still average. You are using results to make your case, did you watch any of the games? The struggle to beat a Championship side with a pretty strong team you mention for example, we played pretty fantastic football for big periods of tht game but we conceded two goals when Coloccini and Bassong both got beaten in hte air for the two Coventry goals. Other than that they hardly had a kick.

That's a bit like saying Elizabeth Taylor has been happily married 8 times. That's funny...but can you actually make a case that he hasn't done a good job twice without the humour? God, I've been getting into a lot of fights recently, but a polite question deserves a polite reply. It never quite seems to work out for KK, throughout his management career, does it? He's walked out from us twice, and the England job once. At Man City he seemed to run out of steam and the players were reported to be unhappy with him. He then left football for three years, saying he was disillusioned with the game. The only time it seems to have ended on a good note and he moved positively forward was Fulham to England, and we know how long that lasted. We can get into a debate about precisely why he left in each individual circumstance, but there comes a time when you have to say that perhaps there's a problem with Kevin, rather than the job or the employer. To return to my earlier analogy, it'd be like Liz Taylor saying how rubbish all her husbands were, rather than that she wasn't really suited to marriage. No one is arguing that Keegan doesn't come with baggage so I won't bother trying to defend him on that score. I actually wanted Keegan to lose this case before all the facts came out so I'm not a Keegan bummer either. What's struck me is after this business I recalled Keegan explaining why he had come back into the game with us when he said he was a figure the Newcastle fans could trust with their club. After seeing what's been going on under Ashley I don't have much trust in anyone at the club right now. Sentiment aside, if he was prepared to come back I would love it. Yes he's always going to be a bit flakey but if someone was prepared to back him properly I still think he's as good a manager as we'll get. He'll ensure we play football the right way for one thing, that means he'll buy proper footballers rather than the type of cloggers which Kinnear was bringing in.

Then, we had an average start to the next season...before he quit...four matches in. He was an improvement on Fat Sam, but it wasn't great times or anything. Since then the limitations of the creaking, ageing squad we had has become pretty apparent. I think Keegan got more out of those players than anyone else managed be it Allardyce, Kinnear, Hughton or Shearer. Before Keegan left I think people were reasonably optimistic about the coming season. I know after two games I was really happy with the fluid passing game we were starting to develop. The cup game against Coventry was the best football I'd seen for a long time from us, I doubt we'll outplay them so comprehensively this season.
  24. The long ball tactic is exactly what we should use with the players we've got. We have two or three big strikers, slow, shite midfielders who can battle and Kevin Nolan who's success at bolton was under long ball king Sam Allardyce. How else can we play seeing as most of our midfielders are incapable of running hard for 90 mins? Pretty hard to pass and move if you miss out the 'move' part.
