I don't expect him to bear four players every game, but as an attacking midfielder I expect him to score some goals and make more than 3 assists a season. Also if you look at seasons where 34 and better goal difference would have kept a team up (as in the 3rd bottom went down on 33/34) its been possible in three of the last 4 seasons. In both games we'll struggle to get the ball into the last third because everyone will be stood around hoping somebody else makes a run. Was bitching about this all game. Our players are so fucking static when we are in possession. It's been the same problem for the last couple of seasons. People can go on about the strikers missing chances, but we aren't capable of dominating matches with these midfielders. We get the odd chance through luck more than good play, but it's not enough to win games.

Sums it up for me. We've looked awful all season, this team is going to get relegated because they are worse than the other teams in the division. Portsmouth controlled the game for most of the second half and Shearer has run out of time to make any more changes in time to save us.
