Dennis is his football "knows how football clubs work" brain at Boardroom level remember. Dennis knows what he is doing. He would easily know that Mid March is too late to make a managerial change to try and avoid relegation. It's not though. Pompey showed an immediate improvement after sacking Adams, so did Blackburn after ditching Ince. Even we picked after appointing Kinnear, all we need is a short term boost of some leadership in the next few games.

I was thinking that until Michael Owen came on and moved across the pitch like he was wearing boots made of cement. FYI Martins DID score by the way.

Yeah, you would think another chance of getting points has passed us on that day or something. I tell you what Decky mate, everytime there's an incident in our next match I'll make a new thread. Its such a waste of bandwidth, this is stating the obvious. Find me anyone here who would not blame the owners should we be relegated. Its stating the bloody obvious. Oh oh new thread, "Martins has a really hard shot why didn't he score that Penna today like? " "Hughtons tactics showed he's not a manager". I don't like Ashley, I don't like Nicky Butt, or Shola Ameobi, Harpers starting to grate on me, but I don't go making new threads every Saturday night to highlight points that have already been covered in vast detail. Makes you wonder why the local newspapers have three stories about Newcastle every day when they could put them all under one headline?

I think I could just about stomach the financial belt-tightening which had some sort of logic behind it, however risky it was, but the myopic insistence on sticking with his cheapskate managerial appointments, even when they are in intensive care is beyond explanantion. Cheers fatty you couldn't have fucked it up more royally if you tried.

It's not the fans, it's not Shepherd, it's not the finances and it's not Keegan quitting. No one else is responsible for going into such a crucial stage of the season with a washed up manager in hospital after heart surgery and a clueless coach trying to lead a team in a relegation battle. We are where we are because Ashley has been hoping to make do and mend since Keegan left. He's gambled with the club's future and if we go down there aren't any excuses. It's HIS lack of leadership which has led us here.

The situation could and should have been avoided though. The decision making has been shocking since this thread was started. Did anyone seriously think we'd have Hughton in charge at such an important point of the season?
-
Martins was good, but not near our best player. That has to be Løvendkrands or Saylor, hands down. Duff did a good first half for his standards. A 6 is well deserved. I would say Duff was a 6.5 for his first half and a 3 for the second which gets him around 4.5 which sounds about right.
-
We weren't unlucky, we just ran out of steam with the likes of Butt and Nolan, and heart with the likes of Duff. Having two defenders going off with injury isn't unlucky? Bassong and Taylor weren't playing in midfield for us. In the first half, Butt, Nolan, Duff and Taylor actually supported the strikers well. In the second Arsenal ran them off the pitch, because they were still strong and full of energy, whereas our players were pooped or hiding.

The decision not to sub him straight away cost us the game...and Hughton will keep on making these mistakes if he's left in charge.
-
I reckon Calderwood's new defensive coaching ideas has probably confused things as well. He's clearly a twat.
-
Is anyone interested in hearing what Chris Hughton has to say? Well, yeah... I am. Especially since they had locked the doors and not been out long after the game was over. The players were probably giving Hughton a rollicking.
-
the cunts probably arent even considering it. shitheads. They are just crossing their fingers and hoping it's ok. They've been doing this all season since appointing Joe Kinnear in all honesty, and now the chickens are coming home to roost big style.

That was down to extremely poor indecision from Hughton and Calderwood. That's what I am saying, and Hughton will keep on making these cock ups because he's a no 2 in more ways than one.
-
I think it's lack of leadership rather than players not caring. The situation where Taylor was off the field injured and we fannied around needlessly with 10 men which cost the game sums it up for me.
-
He looks like he's lost interest to me, very half-hearted display.
-
I actually thought Duff would make me eat my words today, but in the second half he disappeared up his own arse true to form. Ryan Taylor looked like he should be playing for Gateshead, not Newcastle.
-
He's been playing in midfield when he's always claimed he prefers right back. But I get the feeling he's a shit defender as well.
-
Agreed. I've never been confident of his penalty taking, he just wants to have them because he's a greedy bastard.
-
Lovenkrands and Martins have wasted our two best chances, although they have combined well with the midfield. The midfield passing has been the best I've seen for months, fair play to all of them.
-
Spot on. Watch them play shite as well, just to showcase Hughton's cluelessness.
-
Jonas was very dangerous breaking against Man U, along with Oba and Loven. Duff will slow everything down again. Bad move. This is just the type of game Duff usually fails to show up in. Provem me wrong Damien. Prove me wrong, I challenge you.
-
I think he's definitely been a bit of a disappointment that's for certain. One thing that bothers me about him is his apparent lack of urgency and his indecisiveness. Who would you pick from the current squad to remedy this situation in place of Coloccini?
-
I think we are ok wide left, but who do you consider a decent option on the right?
