In other words the shit ones.

That's the problem, because he has a good attitude which all the managers love, he's always first on the teamsheet. The problem is his sense and good brain can't take 10 years off his legs and on the pitch that is what counts. I'm sure Geremi and Smith are getting picked cause they are first rate pro's as well, sadly other teams with younger, faster players are running rings round them.
-
The reason I said we need to pick up points before the last 4 games is at that stage it's hard to predict results. Some teams no matter how good they are just don't have much to play for. West Ham beating Man U on the last day of the season a couple of years back for example.
-
I've gone to a 6 from a 3. Crucial mistakes are being made and the number of games to fix them is running out. I still think we might survive but if we are depending on other teams fucking up going into the last 4 games we are down.
-
If only. Funny how so many of us could see that being a really exciting prospect, yet our managers seem to think Butt, Smith and Geremi are the midfield answer. Then complain that michael owen didn't score because he needs better service.
-
Andy Carroll's contract talks went on hold for the same reason, then a couple of days later he signed a new one. So it would seem that contract holds with decent players are on hold while Ameobi, Carroll and Butt are signing contracts quicker than Stephen Carr at the DSS.

I hope they are thinking like the fans, and i especially hope the management are. Sleepwalking into relegation is about where its at at the moment. And it may have done us good to have spent some time in the bottom 3 before now to galvanise the minds in the same way as its produced 'shock' results for the smogs and Blackburn. I'm still an 8.25 but another of those shock results this weekend for us will go down very nicely. Agreed. It was worryingly late before noises started coming out of the club about being in a scrap. At boardroom level they're somehow even less aware of how shit we are. We aren't really all that shit though. We have enough key players fit again now to make our chances of survival better than others around us, but having players availlable is one thing...picking the right 11 to work as a team is something else. Keegan did it just in time last season, I worry about Hughton/Kinnear's ability to do it this time round.
-
Nothing wrong with playing a poacher provided the midfield is set up to supply the forwards. Now where was the flaw in the plan...hmmm.
-
Unfortunately we need Nicky Butt to talk no sense at all. Because that would mean he might no longer be at the club, which would go at least some way to putting things right.
-
Someone should remind Hughton that we lost at home at the end of the day, it's nothing to be advertising tbh. Especially since he totally fucked up the team in the following game with his insane tinkering.
-
I'd rather see him play CM than right wing or up front like he did for Allardyce. Just don't play him in the same team as Duff, one pillock making reckless challenges and giving the ball away is enough.

What the club stands for? The club stands for its ingrained history and the city. It's about sticking by your team, for me that is local pride, my town, my roots. For others it's about choice but even then I would be surprised if anyone outside the odd fickle cretin would switch to another club. He's saying this club is starting to not represent the city any more, that's his point. I'd agree with the idea that if Ashley/Llambias take it down the route of hyper-commercialisation and hyper sterilise the place so as to make it 'fit for consumers', then it wouldn't stand for the city, it would just stand for a business registered with Companies House. A new club would then more likely possess the soul of Newcastle United. (I'm not getting into whether this is what Ashley/Llambias are doing - just talking about the principle). Forgive me, but bollox would it possess the soul of Newcastle United. Lets forget the usual overeaction that this thread seems to be embracing (there are always ups and downs), we have had it much worse and history has shown Newcastle United, our club, will always come through. Do you understand that that's what fs is going on about, now, at least? You both agree the club should represent the city, culture, history and any of that s***. He's just arguing that it could not do at some point, and you're saying that's impossible. It doesn't make him fickle if he thinks the best way he can support the tradition of Milburn, Gallagher et al is by not doing it through Ashley's business - taking him at his word, he's seen worse performances/finances/football; that's not what's lacking. As ever, I hope you're right on the last point. I expect you are, too. Ozzie makes a valid point. Tron misses the point. I started supporting the club when we were getting gates of 11,000, and have stuck with it because the club has always reflected the good things about Newcastle. Winning or losing has never really been the point. Now the club has virtually nothing to do with Newcastle. Not even the style of play reflects what the club used to be about. 40,000 supporters walk out on SBR. Local lads giving everything theyve got get slated on supporters messageboards. The crowd boos more than it sings. And then comes along Mr Ashley. Shepherd was a clown but he cared about Newcastle. This bloke doesnt give a shit about our city. I can remember when SJH gave Ardlies a mandate of playing local youngsters with the dream being one day to send out a team of 11 geordies. When we ended up heading for the 3rd division, there weren't many fans praising the owners for staying in touch with what the club was all about. While I can accept that many fans no longer trust the owner as they did when Keegan was at the helm, I think this sort of answer (supporting a crap but nice team) is fudgeing the issue. If we were prepared to watch rubbish there wouldn't have been so much discontent in times before Ashley arrived on the scene.

Well if he did, he must have been good at it... not. I doubt very much whether Arsene Wenger would have bought the likes of Nolan and Taylor. That's not a negative judgement on Taylor btw, we still haven't seen him in his preferred position of RB, but wasn't Joe in favour of buying young English players from the championship? Not exactly Wenger's blueprint is it? I am still concerned at the type of players Kinnear will bring here if he is given the job long term.
-
Beggars belief that Kinnear was only brought in on a month's contract and we are now looking to appoint him full time AFTER having a heart bypass.

Why would you stand by that? You should either fight to take it off them or abandon that company. A new club would then more likely possess the soul of Newcastle United. (I'm not getting into whether this is what Ashley/Llambias are doing - just talking about the principle). So John Hall and Freddie Shepherd didn't run a commercial enterprise registered with Companies House? Please grow up.

Kindly fuck off and support NCFC or Gateshead or whichever club you feel represents you then. Just do it and don't come whingeing here.

Ok I'll re-phrase it: Why can't a Geordie consortium buy the real Newcastle rather than start a new club on the cheap? is that better?
-
I've stuck by the club since the 80's when we were much worse than now. I didn't jack it in then and I'm not about to now. But supporters with better credentials than you are jacking it in. Its not a contest. if they are jacking it in, how do they have better credentials?
-
What I don't understand is, Hughton was complaining that Owen needs service to score, yet HE was the one who picked a midfield with three central midfielders, two of who's combined age is closer to 70 than 60, and the other used to be a hard working striker. What service was he hoping to provide bearing in mind the team he picked?

Whether it's a three man midfield or four man, the only way it's going to work in my opinion is if you keep the pensioner count to one at most. If Butt plays, don't play Geremi and vice versa.
-
Why can't a Geordie consortium buy the real Newcastle and make Shearer manager?

Don't be absurd. Have you forgotten how bad their midfield was at the start of the season when this Jenas was in midfield? Mostly down to Palacios and Lennon's form. nothing to do with Jenas. Sorry. I always liked Jenas because I thought he was a good player to facilitate passing football. Much better than Nicky Butt for example. Both were in our team under Souness, we are now left with Butt who won't be removed from the team unless dynamite is involved. But of course Dyer and Jenas were the s*** players and hated by all let's remember. ...and while you're getting down off your high horse, try taking off the s*** tinted glasses. Denial is ok. If it makes you feel better. Aye, Jenas and Dyer were 'hated by all were they? And you liked them? All minus 1 then, oh yeah and I liked them and watched them either get injured all the time or fall from grace. All minus 2 then. I presume others have similar opinions. So what part of 'hated by all' makes sense when making such a contradictory statement? Why are you getting so wound up over a positive comment about Jenas? Spurs played good football today and their midfield were a big part of it and unfortunately he was part of it. We have one of the worst midfields in the country ATM and have had for some time because our players are mostly over-the-hill retards. That's the point.
