  1. Said he's going to another premiership club? You have just added that quation mark then, so Megson didnt say it. Oh well. It was meant to be a question. I think the fact that he is out of the equation is a very positive step. I have a feeling this one will come off 5'-11", tough tackling, great dead ball pieces with a sweet left foot and costing £12-14m? I don't think so.

    The Mackems Game

The mackems have scored 5 goals less then we have, they aren't that good. The players who have scored our goals aren't playing tomorrow.

    The Mackems Game

Sunderland have got a couple of strikers who will cause us problems, we've got Carroll and...well..we've got Carroll. I am going to spend the time before the game trying to psyche myself into a state of furious war mentality in the hope that the sheer force of will from 52000 at St James will overwhelm the filth.
  4. Why? Because the Spuds will magically "click" at some point this season? They're in just as much trouble as Bolton at least, tbh. Spurs have got better players and they will go on a run and get away from the bottom. They aren't going to get relegated while Bolton quite possibly could, although today's result will give them a massive lift.
  5. Bad result for us if Bolton win.
  6. If that happens it will have been a tremendous Jan window...provided they are of the right quality of course. Who would you realistically be happy with if those were the three we got in? Outside of centre mids(Mbia, Veloso, Johnson, Gelson) I cannot see who we could/should/will get in! M'Bia/Donadel and Bent would be good signings, I haven't really thought too much about the central defender. EDIT: Forget about Bent, he's just scored two goals for Spurs, they won't sell now.
  7. We won't be buying either, this story is complete bollocks.

    The Mackems Game

Just as well cause I can't really see anyone else scoring.

    The Mackems Game

Is Xisco fit because I would play him and Carroll up front and set the team up to fire the crosses in.
  11. I don't mind selling if the finances dictate it, but the money has to be re-invested well.

    The Mackems Game

Xisco should change his name to Bill Bloggs and suggest a friendly game of darts down the local, he'll be on Joe's radar pronto. As for this game I don't think we'll win it, a strike force of Carroll and Lovenkrands sounds pretty desperate to me.
  13. If we can't sell given in time to buy another player then the deal should be called off.
  14. Zog needed to be sold that's without doubt, but we should have got more money for him. £8m plus Ryan Taylor would have been easier to swallow. This is a player who has pace, power, good shooting ability, and can cross. He'll do well at Wigan where he'll be first choice left wing. I'd disagree with this. He rarely finds people with his crosses and the last time he scored a goal from range was the Bolton game 18 months ago I think. He does get power and venom in his shots, but his accuracy isn't that great. He rarely finds people with his crosses because we usually only have owen in the box when the ball comes in. how many times does he look up,know theres only one player there and still hit it in,even worse when he knows theres no one there and he still plays it even when he has time.......that is deliberatly giving the ball away, the biggest sin in football. The same accusations have been levelled at Martins for two years now, e.g., "touch of a rapist", "thick as mince" etc. We've done well with all the intelligent players in the team when he's been injured haven't we?
  15. One of our few players who wasn't too slow.
  16. I'm just waiting to see if we bring anybody else in. Taylor and Nolan aren't bad squad fillers but we've hardly improved the quality of the team pool with Given and Zog leaving. We've still got all the shit useless big wage earners and lost two of our better players.

  18. Another pie and chips player for Joe's pub team
  19. Can we reset the poll after the transfer window? I voted to wait till Feb 2nd but I might change it depending on who else we sign. So far the quality of the players leaving has been better than those coming in IMO. Still time for that to change but I was worried about the choice of players that would come in under Kinnear and I haven't seen anything to prove that gut feeling was wrong at this moment.

  21. -bumped Nolan and Ryan in so far..Given and Zog out. The pub 11 is coming together as we speak.
  22. In that case why not let him go for 500k? because wigan bid £6 million plus a player? an amazing deal considering the circumstances. he could be the best player ever but if he's not going to play and desperately wants to leave then he's a waste of a squad number. Smith, Geremi, Butt, Ameobi and Duff don't desperately want to leave. Strangely enough, no one wants to bid close to £6m for any of those useless fuckers. I wonder why? how are their situations comparable to n'zogbia? Nobody wants them.

  24. and Milner is helping to establish Villa in the top four. Whereas our 'brilliant' summer of transfers has us on the brink of relegation. if i had a choice of paying a little too much for transfers, and receiving slightly less than we're due on our sales, but getting in exactly who we need to improve us, then i would take that over some clever negotiating for average players like Nolan and Taylor or good players like Given and N'Zogbia. Neither of which wanted to even play for us again though. I'm all for keeping good players but if they refuse to play for us then what choice has the club got? But the reason they didn't want to be here was because the squad building in the summer has left us where we are and because we've showed very little ambition. At the moment, that's still true. No point selling your council house for a million quid if you then go and live in a cardboard box on the high street. That's fair enough. What were the club supposed to do under the circumstances though? The 2 players clearly don't want to be here so what else has the club to do other than to get the best deal possible for the pair of them? I agree but I'd rather they felt this football club was going forward and wanted to be part of it. At the moment we're a poorer side for the loss of these two imo, even with the new additions. Lot of work on incoming players to do before Monday for me. Really? I think it's an improvement tbh. Zoggy's a bit-part player and hasn't been up for it and, well - Shay doesn't really contribute to team play. Harper's a perfectly decent keeper. If we hadn't got Nolan and Taylor we'd be looking at Edgar and Geremi as long term fixtures in the side. The problem is we didn't get rid of Edgar and Geremi, we got rid of N'Zogbia and Given. I don't mind losing either if we have better players coming in.
