Doesn't sound like a club who are desperate to hang on to him. They already have his replacement ear-marked.
-
I've told you before, I'm jumping on them because they appear to be lethargic, lacking ambition, and clueless about football. If they show they have real ambition to fulfill the potential of the club, thats all we can ask. It won;t be done by not competing with the top 4 clubs and by operating a "sell to buy" policy. Thats what Keegans comments were about. I'm pleased you think its funny as fuck that the manager is unhappy with his board, do you want him to fail or something ? THAT, is funny as fuck. You're mental. Odd, but I laugh like fuck when you say that to me, particularly as I've actually supported the club when they really were shit, unlike yourself. You mean when Willie McFaul was manager? I remember that. I didn't realise it entitled me to claim the sun shone out of a local scrap dealer's arse.

Makes perfect sense tbh. Spurs will need a striker to replace Berbatov who has allegedly been spotted wearing his No 9 toon shirt while deep in negotiations with Mort in an undisclosed restaurant on Stowell St.
-
load of steaming bollocks imho. Berbs wanted to add this clause when he was negiotiating a new contract and Levy straight away rejected it, so i fail to see why we'd agree one for Modric. because you want to defend Spurs on a Newcastle board? It's hardly like you are an impartial observer here on issues like this one.

Johnny Evans on loan at Sunderland is set to be offered a 30k/wk contract according to some reports. I don't know what Taylor's asking for but he should probably be worried. Where did you get that from mate about Evans being offered 30k? I've read the link, just nothing be talked about financial figures or anything. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article1174759.ece It's The Sun so you can take it or leave it, but the interest seems to be genuine and 30k (even if it's made up) probably wouldn't be too far wide of the mark.

Maybe so, but the Premiership is a big lure for foreign players these days. So many big clubs were linked with Modric but he ended up choosing between us and Spurs. I also believe that Mort and Ashley won't mind paying big wages for genuine emerging stars as opposed to over-the-hill celebrities like Henry.

He does, I agree. He has a touch of Gazza about him, of course Gacoigne's genius was football intelligence ( the only type he had) and top drawer end product. I don't know enough about Turan to know if he has those qualities.
-
He might play on the left but on the Youtube clip every pass and shot is hit with his right. It's like putting Miner on the left and calling him a left winger.

I remember after the Chelsea 0-0 when Roeder was in charge you thought he was the business. That'll probably be his best ever game in a black and white shirt (if he does leave, it wont be to Juve), a one off excellent game. He'll not be the first to have that, plenty on here raved about Parker after his first game against Arsenal, Smith likewise when he bullied Toure. Added to which, ive never been a fan of him down the right, and when he switched to the left flank, at first I thought he had turned the corner and cut out all the nonsense - going from a predictable, repetitive robot down the right, to someone who was both cutting inside and going down the flank, passing and moving more often, getting into dangerous positions, etc. After a few other initial games down the left, however, he's been mediocre, back to his old self of shimmying in and out whilst everyone else waits in the penalty box with hands on hips in the box before he floats it out of play, on top of having little footballing contribution with regards to anything else. I mean, how many assists without crossing does the guy get? How many through balls has he pulled off since being here? He's a very one dimensional footballer. As stated, I think he'll be good player for a no-hope mid table team that needs an individual to add a bit of that something extra to an otherwise workmanlike team. He was commonly referred to as one of our "best" players last season and early on in the current campaign, but that was purely down to the team as a whole being utterly s***, and like Parker, Milner managed to shine somewhat because hes able to play his own game irrespective of what others around him are doing, i.e. pick the ball up on the flank, shimmy in and out, in again to create a bit of space on the fullback, then float an aimless cross into the box - repeat ad finitum and you'll get the occassional good cross whipped into the right area, but even so, thats all he needed to do to be "one of the best" since everyone else was doing fuck all due to crap tactics/players/etc. Pretty much the gist of it.

I said he's [Geremi] quicker and more incisive when releasing the ball. Someone earlier in the thread said something similar about Solano iirc.
-
Gejon, you say he's better than Geremi, and it's true he can get up and down the pitch much better. But with the ball at his feet Geremi still hurts the opposition more than Miner for me. He's quicker and more incisive when releasing the ball.

Its a bit harsh blaming Milner for us not scoring when you have Alan Smith in the team who was probably standing behind Harper/Given for 89 minutes. I don't blame him for Smith's lack of goals or Smith for Milner's. N'Zogbia has plenty of faults but he does provide and score goals. Milner doesn't create or score enough for an attacking player. He's a right-sided Duff, although obviously gives a bit more. But not much.
-
When we were in freefall there were three players starting most games who ran around a lot and put in 150% effort although we couldn't score a goal to save our lives. Those three were Milner, Smith and Duff. I can remember in the pre-match thread when I heard Viduka, Martins and Geremi had been brought into the team at the expense of those three I almost jumped for joy because I knew we could at last hit back with goals. I'm not saying Milner was as much to blame as the other two but he's of that mould. Runs around a lot without much cutting edge and little prospect of goals. Sell while the price is high.

It wouldn't have been harsh not to give him it, he wasn't up to the job and should have gone back to the academy. I think I made the point at the time that he had the chance to bow out and always be remembered with affection by the fans, he had done a fantastic job but staying on in the role would only sully his reputation, unfortunately I was right I would say this was Shepherd last big mistake, the appointment of Allardyce was logical at the time, on hindsight it is easy to say it was a mistake but at the time he seemed the best person available. However it was clear to most people that Roeder was never the right choice for the permenant role dispite how well he had done exorcising Souness. I think that's exactly right. Allardyce was a disaster but there was sound reasoning behind his appointment at the time. Souness and Roeder were decisions which only reinforced some peoples perception of Shepherd as a blustering oaf.

N'Zogbia is left-footed and fast. This guy is clearly right-footed doesn't look quite quick enough to play wide for me. He might be interesting playing in Owen's current role, or where Barton/Geremi are playing in a midfield trio.
-
Was he wearing his Alan Shearer toon top?
-
Berbatov is such a toon fan I believe he'll stump up half the fee himself to realise his dream move ter Nyercastle
-
Looking at the Youtube clip he doesn't look like a winger, more of a playmaker and he's right-footed, so not my idea of a left winger either. KaKa is right, he could play in the Geremi role maybe.
-
I choose to believe these rumours.
-
Heh, I'd love it if it was true. "Sunderland in £15m double swoop for Smith and Duff" headlines would be better.
-
Good point. This lad sounds like he's got some physical presence unlike Midget Modric.
-
Never heard of him, but it doesn't sound like Galatasaray are keen to let him go anyway. Probably a lot of work to be done on this one yet so I'd consider it a remote possibilty at the moment, assuming there's any truth in it.

Which replacements did you have in mind? I am glad as well knowing you have a left-sided midfielder lined up as a replacement! Who is it? I think a new thread in his honour is in order!
