    Joe Willock

His job today was to replace Joelinton. It's not like Big Joe is putting in killer passes or scoring goals in most games either. The lack of end product really should be put at the door of the forwards, all of whom barely contributed in the final third. Judge him on his contribution as a midfielder, in that regard I thought he was better than Bruno and Tonali, both of whom had disappointing games.
  2. Today is hardly a disaster, a point was always going to be a decent result. For me it's 50/50 between us and Chelsea, next week's game is massive, but a point wouldn't be awful there either. I see Forest and Villa as the teams we can stay ahead of even if we don't beat Chelsea.
  3. Thinking you might lose to Ipswich or Brentford is being negative. Chelsea are a good team, with some very dangerous players. Yes we can beat them but given the players they've got, it's no easy task. I just find it odd that people think they have somehow turned into a shit team.
  4. Yeah they have a pretty good squad, they spent over a billion on it in a single season. Just seems really arrogant to think we are just going to turn them over.

    Joe Willock

That's how I saw it as well. Thought he was pretty bright and busy, but predictably he's getting the pelters. I have no problem calling him out when he's been invisible, which he has for a lot of this season, but he put himself about today. The failure was the front three for me, none of them really produced anything of note.
  6. The goal was absolute quality. It was the one thing our wide players never looked like producing on the day, even though I thought we had plenty of good possession in the final third. Just no one was able to do the defenders from our side, and make use of it.
  7. Not sure why everyone was so sure we are beating them either. They have plenty of players who can hurt us, they aren't on the same points as us by a fluke.
  8. Honestly, I think they've barely been near our goal, I don't think it's as big a factor as people are saying. The difference really has been we just haven't shown any real skill in the penalty area, and they did on that one occasion.
  9. Thought it was a good bit of skill from Minteh tbh.
  10. We need one of our players to show some arrogance in the second half.
  11. I hope not, we generally do worse every time we start making changes on the hour mark. We need an early goal in the second half.
  12. Don't think it's that tbh, Willock has been pretty involved. Just feels like we have lacked some quality in the final third, and that's not what Joelinton usually brings. Minteh's touch of magic has been the difference. We've had far better positions than Brighton but produced fuck all.
  13. He just needs to work hard and not go missing. Anything above that will be a bonus.
  14. Fair to assume we will be changing tack slightly, and maybe not pressing as high as usual for this one. Which I am absolutely fine with away from home against a dangerous team.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

It's all down to form tbh. If he's causing opposition teams problems and scoring goals, no one would bat an eyelid if he kicked a chip butty out of a starving kids hands. Just have to look at how a couple of good games for Villa had many singing his praises again. He's just not doing enough on the pitch to justify massive wages. That's it really.
  16. I was always hoping that Forest would come unstuck. Not because I've got anything against them, just there was always more chance of them failing than Chelsea or Villa. Would prefer Villa nd Chelsea to fail, but Forest was always a hopeful safety net for us.

    Joe Willock

I think he means he's a natural fit for the left side midfield role. Miley is fine centrally, but don't think he's got the pace to pull out wide left. Ditto Longstaff who is probably more suited to right side if anything. I don't really see any alternative to Willock unless we change formation.

    Joelinton

This is what I was thinking as well. I would even consider it for home fixtures against potential banana skins like Chelsea.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

There's a year left on his contract, Parish might be a pompous quiff, but he's not daft. I think he'll sell this summer, and I think there's a great chance we will be the buyers.
  20. It's very hard to predict without knowing if Joelinton is playing or not. He makes a big difference to our team, and if he's out we will need to have a think whether to set up differently to get the best out of the team we put out.
  21. Stopped listening to football phone-ins years ago. It's like reading the Star to get political insights.
  22. We might get some fringe players given a shot for Liverpool now that they have won the PL, but even their fringe players are top class. Could see Nunez bagging a couple of goals when there's less pressure on for example.
  23. I don't buy this narrative that Liverpool wil get their flip flops out now they have won the league. They are not that type of club, they have a very demanding fan base. I think it's more likely that they'll play without any pressure now and really turn it on.

He's quite tall so he can get a good stride in to make up for lack of pace, a bit like Dan Burn. I think he could do a job in that department for a team mid-lower half of the table.
