This is what I've said a couple of times in earlier posts. We just assume the whole world revolves around us, and while we've undoubtedly got the best product, if people outside of Europe are happy to follow Man U or Chelsea, what makes us think they might not equally take an interest in a Saudi league which is signing boatloads of superstars? A lot depends on how long term the Saudis are thinking, to be sure, but they don't strike me as the type to do things by halves. I don't see a let up any time soon.

Eddie basically said a week ago there would be one more signing and since then Hall has come in. I don't think there'll be any more incoming in this window.

It's been a good window bearing in mind the FFP restrictions. But as you said, ideally we'd have bought these players and kept Maxi, and also got cover for Schar and someone to compete with Miggy on the right wing. And if we were really being greedy, a specialist defensive midfielder. It is annoying that we aren't allowed to compete with other big clubs because of restrictions which seem to be targetted specifically at us.
-
It's fucking rank, almost annoys me as much as Paqueta going to West Ham last season. Skilful players are basically putting their careers on hold signing for a Moyes team. I hope the wage packet compensates well enough.
-
I agree, not many in the west will watch it, actually I don't even watch football outside of England tbh. But the world is a big place, not everyone lives in the west, maybe the Saudi league will become popular in the east.

£4.5m was a lot of money to go through all that paperwork mind. Charners forte was licking stamps and running to the post office, a bit much to ask him to sort work permits and the like.

I mean if it's a battle between having Benzema on the books or Nuno's "style" then there's only going to be one winner.

It was a dubious decision at best. The point being made was that once it was made it would not have been overturned in favour of a lesser club because the PL will always try to support their officials. The only reason they didn't in this case is because they will always defer to Liverpool as they one of the hallowed clubs who are quick to remind the PL who their paymasters are.
-
No. How many times do we see red cards overturned these days? It usually has to be a shocker of a decision for that to happen. If it was a Bournemouth player, the officials would just have said it's not a clear and obvious error, and it wasn't.

The "delighted Ashley has gone, but uncomfortable with Saudi ownership" thread

Couldn't agree more. -
Agree. At some point it will probably be ditched anyway when a club decides to sue for restriction on fair trade.

I think that's it really. You only have to look at Chelsea and Liverpool fighting it out over Caicedo and Lavia, and in the end Chelsea ended up buying them both just to stop Liverpool getting one. For us it's a case of just buying the best players we can. If we can't compete for the top CDM's then we'll just buy the best midfielders who can do a bit of both, like Tonali and Bruno. Neither are natural CDMs in my book, but they offer much more going forwards so there's a trade off.
-
I think because the they had such a good second half of the season it's easy to forget how bad they were before Christmas. They would have been worse if the officials hadn't intervened to stop us turning them over at Anfield.
-
How many teams actually beat Liverpool over the course of a season? While I want to win obviously, it's still takes some doing.
-
I think the sensitivity is due to both himself and Joelinton being targeted with the crafty photo. It did look like Big Joe was targeted by the City press as they will know he is the least accomplished out of our midfield trio, and they did manage to hurry him into giving away possession a couple of times. Not that there is any shame in it, we are talking about the best team in the world.

Is he settled here now? I can remember when he first moved to Newcastle he had problems with his lass who wanted to be back down south.
-
It's not as bad as I thought it would be tbh, although I was never going to read through more than one page of Liverpool fan views.
-
If he's over his injury problems he'll be a decent player for a championship team.
-
He's not unlucky, if he's going to be dumb enough to question players efforts against the best team in the world, then he deserves to get pulled up on it. I get that we have some thick fans, same as every other team, but he's putting himself up there as a representative of fans opinions so he needs to think more carefully before passing such shit opinion.
-
If he genuinely wants to leave there should be enough clubs who would take him on subsidised wages. Hopefully he'll be gone by the time the transfer window closes then.
-
He might just prefer sitting in front of his telly in Newcastle earning the £60k though. Isn't that the reason he's not moved in the past 12 months?
-
I've only seen two episodes so far, it's a four part series, not sure how much they can cram into that considering they took over barely two years ago.
-
So you know her better than her father?
-
We didn't luck into mega rich ownership, Staveley was told to fuck off by Mike Ashley when Rafa was the manager if you might recall. She was pretty determined she wanted us and came back with bigger buyers. Might be best to watch all the episodes before making a judgement I think.

Of course they will appeal, they know fine well they'll get a sympathetic hearing from the officials who'll be sat round a desk wearing Klopp is King of the Kop t-shirts.
