He's looked fantastic, especially when he links with Barnes. I just don't think you can put a price on him at the moment, who would you replace him with?
-
I was warned by a Man U fan that we would struggle in the CL games as it's another level. I wonder what he's thinking after watching that last night?
-
Agree, Howe said the same thing basically, for an hour it felt like it could go either way, but that third goal killed them.
-
I don't know if anyone's mentioned it yet, but did you notice he was wheeling away to celebrate even before the ball had cleared the last defender? The absolute certainty in his own genius is frightening.
-
He's the mirror opposite of Colback and Shelvey just because he plays the ball and then MOVES. Can you imagine either of them storming into the box to score that goal after setting up the move to begin with?
-
It makes no sense but does he give a fuck? Does anyone?
-
He's miles better than Robert tbh, and I loved Robert.
-
He would be if he actually believed Martial and Rashford are better than Isak.
-
Nah, he's just a very efficient winger who knows when to press the buttons. He's criminally underrated out wide IMO.
-
Emery has turned out to be a lot better than I thought tbh, I was slagging him off big time when he bottled the Newcastle job so fair play, it's nice he's shown something at Villa. But by God he did us a favour. Eddie Howe is frighteningly good. Hard to believe sometimes that he's an ex-pro footballer when you compare him with his contemporaries.

In three years we might be the way we are going. I seriously think we'll get into the qualifying stages of the CL this season.
-
Because it was so unexpected I think. He looked very easy paced in the pre-seasons, then we suddenly see him exploding into the box and volleying home with a vengeance once the serious stuff got underway. I just love that.
-
From a team perspective it was perfect football.
-
Actually that's what made it better. He was clearly feeling his way and getting to terms with his role in the side in the pre-seasons, just doing the basics. Then when it came to competition time we saw him move up two gears and show us what he's got in his locker. Mason Mount for £60m? I''ll pass thanks.
-
Was thinking about PL clubs like City and Chelsea tbh, but City have got Haaland. Man U would be another team who might like him, but if we can match the wages in the next couple of years then obviously no player would want to be anywhere else.
-
Thought exactly the same about Botman. Easy to forget what a good defender he is and what a great signing he has been.
-
All sorts of thoughts went through my mind while watching that interview. I also thought we are one of the best teams in the world, but then I also thought what if some team offers him 300k/week? That's not to say we would sell, or that he would want to leave, but it's naive to think there won't be teams watching thinking they'd like a bit of that. He's world class.
-
Teams will be looking to press him this season, as he's been caught a few times hanging onto the ball a fraction too long. By the same token, if they don't get the ball off him then we are just as likely to punish them on the counter like we did today.
-
I was thinking that when he was doing the Sky interview. If he's scoring goals like that, every top club in the world will be after him. It's not like it was a fluke, we saw similar outrageous stuff last season as well. I can't even imagine the thought of losing him.
-
Yeah, Howe said as much, especially with the game going 10-15 minutes longer with the new rules in play. You need a good bench and today was the strongest I've seen in years.
-
Fantastic first half, great to see him get an assist as well. Eddie has a great eye for a player, all due respect to Ashworth, but you get the feeling Howe knows who he wants.
-
Said it in the pre-game, Wilson and Barnes look made for each other. I reckon Wilson will get close to 20 goals again this season if he stays fit.
-
So intelligent with the ball. That right foot is a wand as well, that cross for the Isak goal was lush.
