Chelsea and Arsenal spending close to £200m collectively on two central midfielders shows what we are up against. We've done brilliantly to be in the top 4 at this stage of the season, but we still can't compete if those clubs want the same players we do. That is the truth of where we are now. It's also why we are looking at players like Gordon or Gallagher, players who probably wouldn't be considered by those clubs. We are still playing catch up, and it's amazing that we are in there pitching at all this season, probably at least a year ahead of schedule.

That picture must be burned into the memberships retinas by now. Nothing encapsulated the Ashley years more accurately.

He does look like he's got plenty of running in him, I can see why Howe would be a fan.
-
I can't see Chelsea selling us Gallager while we are competing with them for a CL spot.
-
I'm surprised there hasn't been more interest in Fraser. I don't particularly rate him, but he can produce some end product on his good days.
-
Thanks for setting the price for us Everton.
-
You would have thought by now we would know if he's interested in coming or not. I'm sure he's a good player, but would still prefer a holding midfielder so we could play Bruno further forward.

I said bastardised version. You don't go from 30% possession to 60% overnight.
-
I remember Luke Edwards used to be a journalist once before he decided a new career under the bridge was a better option.
-
And Botman. Although Burn it has kind of played out.

This is not how I want to be ending a Sunday night! (usually)

We were still playing a bastardised version of Bruceball at the time.
-
I think Willock and Longstaff's contributions to midfield have been underestimated this season. We've got to a CL position with them playing for most of the season so far.
-
That's how it works in the money game.
-
Come on down big lad. No idea who the fuck you are but we happy.
-
Thank fuck it's not McTominay.
-
That's where he's been playing most of this season tbf.
-
He's better than what we've got, but not a CL quality player. It would be a sideways step and one I would find hard to get behind.
-
Good luck to him at Forest, but I wouldn't even play him ahead of Longstaff at this point. At least Sean has some mobility and will go for the return pass. Shelvey is better on the ball, but he's not fit for purpose with the 2023 version of Newcastle.
-
Fair play, he could have hung around for the contract extension, but he knows his days are numbered as a first teamer. Go with our blessings Jonjo.
-
Succinctly put.

Everton and Dyche. A match made in heaven.
