We do also have to recognise that there are some clubs who players still prefer to sign for if they are in for the same ones we are looking at. Arsenal are one of them.

The players with the extra quality might not have the same work ethic which is pretty much a must in an Eddie Howe team. You mentioned Maxi as an example of quality for example, there's a case in point. No one doubts his ability, but he's never going to press for 90 mins like Gordon or Miggy.

I will say though, I think signing Gordon might hinge on who takes over at Everton. If it's Dyche, then we will probably get him. If it's Bielsa, then he's also a high press merchant so he'll want to keep Gordon IMO.

I have absolute faith in Howe's recruitment, and if he wants to buy players who will suit his methods I am 100% all in.

Rooney feels like he would be a fit for Everton manager, so would have no problem if he turned up there. If he did well, I could say fair do's, if he flopped I could enjoy it equally as much as I enjoyed the demise of Frank Lampard.

Agreed. Maxi is supremely talented, but the high press is not his natural game, whereas for Gordon it is. I read some stats that Gordon makes twice as many tackles as Almiron, which is mind-boggling considering Miggy is one of our best players to apply pressure to his opponents. Gordon isn't going to be as spectacular as Maxi, but he is going to fit Howe's style of play to a tee. I can see why we might be keen, especially as he's still only 21.

I'd put that down to good keeping as well. Not that easy when there are only so many options in a short flash of time. Those angles are hard to score from, but a genuine striker will always think he can.

I would have said the same thing before the game, but he scored the winner, and in reality probably scored twice. Ironically he wasn't that great overall other than the goal chances, but his movement for the goal was fantastic.

It's not really. Wilson is our only real natural goal scorer, and if they mark him out of the game we are left with Willock, Longstaff, Miggy and Joelinton. Miggy's been brilliant this season, but is that his game? Isak might step that up.

Great move, as soon as it landed at Longstaff and Murphy's feet, it died a death.
