Just a hunch, and it might be wrong, but if we could sell Maxi for the same sort of money it would take to get someone like Harrison in, I think we would do it.
-
Yeah, if they don't want to sell him then asking stupid prices is fair enough. He'll get to move later on in his career when his contract runs down.
-
That's because there's been no offers for him, and it's more than likely the rumours of Spurs or Chelsea interest are probably horseshit.
-
Brighton need to fuck off like if they think they are getting £50m for Cucurella. I like him a lot as a player, but no one's paying that.
-
It's not just Chelsea though, it's even clubs like us. We were run by the tightest owner in the history of football, but he still ended up paying PL wages to Championship players like Ritchie, Gayle, Clark etc, now we have to subsidise their wages to get shot of them, because genuine championship clubs can't afford them. It does make our more cautious approach more understandable seeing as we aren't going to be allowed to spend our way to the top because we aren't Chelsea.
-
I think Everton would rather take a sledgehammer to Dele's knees than allow him to play another 10 games if it's triggering a £20m add-on fee.
-
At that age you can't guarantee anything, but if the top clubs are all sniffing around, it will be for good reason. He obviously has a bit about him, it's not that different to Isak who had a slow season after a standout the season before. But clubs look at a player's attributes, and that's why the really highly rated younger players are never going to be prised out without a lot of money changing hands.
-
It wasn't that curious when you consider Souness was manager at the time, and probably had links with McKay. Chuck in Freddie Shepherd as the owner and his penchant for some strange deals, and you can work out that £8m probably got split a few ways.
-
I also think that Howe will have taken note of Almiron's willingness to get into goal scoring positions and will now be encouraging him to do it more. Miggy's a confidence player, and if he's given clear instructions I think he's the type who would thrive on it. That's coming from me, I've been slagging him off for months now, but he does sniff out those chances, and if he can be convinced he's a goal scorer, who knows? He could get double figures this season.
-
I wouldn't want to be relying on it, but it's possible that he's learning how to play under Howe, and he's struck up an understanding with Trippier. I don't think they played in the same side much last season.
-
Sesko is on the radar of all the big clubs, that's not a deal that's going to happen for us unless we are chucking unbelievable amounts of money at it.
-
Well it does mean we might be able to do deals which were previously off the table because selling clubs want a lot of money up front.
-
I think we could have done deals yesterday if we just wanted players who improve us slightly, so the likes of Cornet, Dennis or Sarr. Available and in our price range. That we haven't bitten makes me think we must still be confident of landing a higher level of forward, maybe we are just waiting until the market opens up as the window gets smaller.
-
Well he's supposedly one of our targets, as is Harrison, so it appears there is an argument.
-
So they will sell then, if they get a big enough offer. Just saw a few posters saying they would never sell him on the previous couple of pages.
-
Why are we talking about Barnes if there's no chance of Leicester selling him?
-
I would have thought the only reason to sell ASM would be to bring in a really high quality wide man who would fit the system better, presumably the likes of Gordon or Harrison.
-
It's all nonsense, any effort wasted on other teams is just a dilution of support that could be going towards your own club. Every ounce of hatred directed towards Forests, random Uniteds and blah di blah City's just soups up enjoyment of your own club's eventual triumphs that much more.
-
Yes, and the really cool thing is, anyone can run a business Mike Ashley-style and just look to turn a profit, but from what we've seen of the new owners, not only do they want a successful business, they also want a successful club. That's the big differentiator.

We need more posts like this.

Tbf, when he picks the ball up, he's usually looking to get a shot off at the end of his run anyway. He's not really looking to put anyone else in unless he gets blocked off completely.
-
With a fantastice manager like Frank Wankhard in place, what could go wrong?
-
Yeah I've just seen the other thread now. I don't usually bother with that one, but obviously with the HSBC loan news it's been fairly busy today.

What financing is he referring to?
