  1. It's actually quite refreshing to see a foreign club being realistic and financially prudent. After the bollocks of the last window and the Diego Carlos non-event it's nice to see clubs taking some responsibility for their future. On the other end of the spectrum we have Barcelona...
  2. Just another name to add to the list and ignore for now.
  3. The day I'll call him a good player will be the day he plays a short pass then runs into space to collect the return pass.
  4. Not really sure what you are saying. Do you think Spurs or Chelsea want to buy ASM?
  5. Those players are available for that sort of money but we don't seem to be interested. I can only assume we are saving our money for the really top level forwards. If we can't get them in this window, maybe we'll wait until the next one.
  6. I don't think we want any of these players that badly tbh. The likes of Diaby are the real gold standard, but they are seemingly out of our reach.
  7. If he was genuine quality the rumours of Spurs and Chelsea interest would be true.
  8. Not for £30m you wouldn't. Be honest.

So if he's not considered a CM because he ghosts into goal scoring positions, then why is Shelvey considered a CM because he sits in front of the back four? At the end of the day I would think you would have to look at which areas they cover, and both seem to cover the central area quite a lot. Shelvey does it in his own time, Wollock seems to a bit more Sonic Hedgehog.
  10. Except when we conned them into paying £30m for your favourite Mexican.

Depends on what you consider a CM. Some sit in front of the defenders like Shelvey, some press further forward like Willock. Willock does sometimes pull wide though, but that's because he has the pace and stamina to do it, being the much younger player.
  12. I reckon we'll get a marquee signing striker. Seems like we aren't pursuing the likes of Cornet, Sarr or Dennis, and they would all be available for relatively reasonable fees, so I'm assuming we are holding out for the big hitters. Whether that's Isak or DCL I've no idea but must be someone we rate to be a higher level.

I think he actually presses quite well already, he was winning a lot of possession when he had that little run of games last season. He just needs to learn to keep the ball a bit better, but tbf, he plays attacking football and it's a bit harder than passing it sideways.
  14. Miggy's goals were the best. Really nice left foot finishes.
  15. I'd quite happily see him sold presuming that meant we were getting a replacement. I doubt he'll be here beyond this season anyway, I don't think he's a Howe type of player.
  16. That was exactly the reaction he was probably looking for.
  17. HTT is right about the Saudis though, I can't ever see them buying a football club to be second best, (well currently 11th best) investment or no investment. If they are associated with NUFC they'll want it to be the best, or at least swinging punches to attempt to be the best. It might be a patient approach because of circumstances, but their ambition will be the title at some point.
  18. Take my advice and don't step back in Newcastle if there's no signings over the next few weeks. That sort of talk will get you a pitchfork in your belly.
  19. T'was a thing of beauty. Headers thundered in from that far out are few and far between, so they stick in the mind forever.
  20. No idea either. Just grasping at straws tbh.
  21. Sesko still sounds like the most likely target simply because he's a similar mold to Ekitike and can go wide as well through the middle. It has to be someone of that type even if not him specifically.
  22. I said in an earlier thread that I'd be disappointed if we ended up treading water this season because we are wary of FFP, but there's still over a month to go in this window. I have to believe we've got at least one game changer forward incoming.
  23. I think you're out of the loop mate. Read back a few pages and you'll see reports of unrest on the streets of Tyneside. There's tension in the town square which could erupt at any time. But for now it's simmering under the surface.
  24. He doesn't rate either of them otherwise we wouldn't be trying to buy replacements.
