  1. Competing well here, just not quite managed to breach their defence when we have got up there.
  2. Could feel the seething resentment at NUFC's big money rise back to the top in Klopp's interview.

Page 3 girls in the Sun used to work on a similar principle back in the days before social media.
  4. One of his major attributes is his pace and power. While I agree that he'll probably still retain those for the next two to three years, I don't think we'd want to pay €60m for the privilege, because those attributes are going to decline after that. By the time we are in a position to be playing CL he might well be on the way down, so I think we'll look to build incrementally. Botman would be a much better investment long term.

How the fuck that cunt gets paid for writing professionally is beyond me.

Yeah Diaz looks quality. Their recruitment is top class.
  7. It's just another way of passing the blame to the players, classic bruce basically. "Look fellas, it's impossible to play the great football I want to play when I've been left with giant footballers who dictate long ball football!"

I think him signing a new contract says everything about what he thinks of the manager. It will always stick in my mind how confused and disgusted he looked under Bruce, I was convinced he was going to leave, and let's be honest, if PIF hadn't took over when they did, he would be gone by now. I don't think him signing is just about ambition, I think it's about respecting the manager. He was happy here under Rafa, and he's happy again to play for Howe. During Bruce's period I swear there was one occasion where he was looking at him with such scorn I almost felt sorry for the fat fuck.
  9. Good to see you posting again ohmelads, when I joined up here many decades ago, you were one of the better posters who made an impression. You must be about 105 yrs old.
  10. Yeah the way they play their football, and their manager's ability ( although he's a bit of a cunt) is outstanding, if it was any other team bar Liverpool, I'd be cooing over them. In the end though I can't stand them, which is a shame because there's that Liverpool poster @rgk_lfc who is a fantastic contributor here. Soz lad, nothing personal, but every time I see your team strutting out to the Walk Alone drunken droning, the red mist starts coming down.
  11. I think that sums it up in one sentence quite nicely for me. Love it when they lose.
  12. I think Scousers as people are absolutely fine, usually a great sense of humour and good craic. It's as a fanbase I can't stand them. Liverpool supporters seem to think they have a divine right to be the best club in England, and tbf they have been for the past 50 years or so. But it just rubs me up the wrong way, I usually want them to lose against just about everybody. It's not necessarily fair or logical, but that's just the way it is.
  13. Just read that in today's paper, he's excusing himself from his own demands of the players to live closer to the training grounds on account of expecting to get the sack. This guy.
  14. One of those once in a while articles which makes me reconsider cancelling my subscription. Read it this morning but thanks for posting here Paully.
  15. I would have thought VVD would have far more trouble trying to keep tabs on ASM than Wood tbh.
  16. Not impossible at all when you consider West Ham are still in the running for a CL spot this season.
  17. This is the way to go. For those talking of replacing Wilson, we don't need a replacement, we need someone to to compete for the main striker role. Sell Wood and buy the next Callum Wilson and let those two fight it out who gets the shirt. Wood has served his purpose, he can leave at the end of the season with our blessing.
  18. Spend big on the right player, you only spend once.
  19. I think if you look at the big picture, it's pretty clear that Dan Ashworth and Howe are lined up to be the future of Newcastle for some time. It's not a short term project, the idea wil be to build incrementally, and build something pretty huge. Those two already know each other pretty well and there is mutual respect, so I would imagine they will be on the same page when it comes to recruitment.
  20. Same, and I'm a big Pochettino fan. Howe is still developing into a manager, he's getting better with every year of experience under his belt.
  21. I think that's exactly what defines a good manager though, knowing how to build a team rather than just a collection of fancy players. Howe seems to have had a big input into recruitment in January, and far from going for the flash names, he brought in good characters. Even with his biggest signing, he waited quite a while before starting him. Eddie seems to be a very shrewd operator, I am quite confident he will be quite vocal about who we bring in, and I'm equally confident he'll know how to handle them once they are here. Top eight is my realistic aim for next season, but deep down I'd be a bit disappointed if we didn't make top six.
  22. I agree. I like Rashford, just not sure he's got the killer instinct for a forward, seems to go through crises of confidence most seasons. I just feel we could get the finished article from abroad for the same money.
  23. Feels like Everton are the team in freefall and Burnley are fighting their way out. Not sure how I feel about that, while it would be funny to see Lampard take them down after they stitched up Rafa, I really don't like Burnley.
