I'm not sure he'll have the very best clubs in the world chasing his signature though, and to leave Roma you'd think it would take the very best. The one thing in our favour is we are a PL club and he really might fancy coming back here to prove a point. I think if we wanted him he might be tempted. I also think he'd be perfect for us to take us to the next level, he's got pace, good in the air, and can finish.
-
Did you see that header he scored at the weekend? My god it was a thing of beauty.
-
Spot on. He was a game changer at the highest level.
-
This Teddy lad doesn't seem such a bad sort really, but unless he can acknowledge Sunderland fans have a massive chip on their shoulder about Newcastle being perceived as a more glamorous club than SAFC, then there's no real point in shooting the breeze. That's nothing against the city or Wearsiders in general, but their fans are generally very anti-NUFC. FTM didn't appear out of thin air.

That's the sort of business which has led to the decline of Barca tbh. I mean he's a cracking player, but 400k/week? I don't think Villa will want to keep him at even half of that.
-
Wages won't be an issue for us with the right player. We might even pay 300k a week or 500k if it was Haaland, but we aren't at that stage yet. It will take another couple of seasons before we are in a position to attract the very best, but I still think we will pay plenty high enough wages to attract some CL talent from around the world. Bruno standard is what we'll be looking for in the summer, however many signings we make.
-
That's it basically. I actually quite liked him as a player at one time, but I think he had long enough to stand out at Man U where they had some pretty tasty forwards by most people's standards. He was there alongside Rashford and Martial, not exactly poor quality players to be rubbing shoulders with, and they had decent managers too. He's a good player, just don't think he should be asking for 150k a week when he couldn't hold a place down in an underperforming Man U team.
-
Willock isn't asking for 150k/week either. I don't mind paying that for the right player, just not convinced Lingard has shown he's earned it. I'll be surprised if West Ham pay him that much in all honesty. But maybe they have a different policy where they will pay one or two galactico players a much bigger wage than the rest....and Lingard would be what they consider a galactico.

Yet you seemed to think some of the posts in here were incredible Did you not think it was incredible that with 2080 active users, no one would have the sense to make the RTG forum look less obsessed with NUFC?
-
Merge them all into one thread like we do here. The maths isn't that hard.
-
There's one thread on here about Sunderland ongoing, there's probably about a dozen every day on RTG about us.
-
Failed to hold down a first team place at an underperforming Man U for the last 3 years. I mean it's hardly a glowing reference. Don't get me wrong, I think he's got talent, but there's obviously been something missing.
-
We all know people from Wearside, and as a general rule they are fine when you are just talking weather, music or tv shows. But let's not pretend they don't have a rod up their arse about us when it comes to football and NUFC. I mean their fan forums tell the story pretty much.
-
Plus there's the idea he threw £100m at the problem and that solved it. In reality we lost our two best players for the majority of the games and could still quite easily have been relegated if it wasn't for some very shrewd marshalling of resources.
-
This. I don't have any problem even paying 200k a week if the club feels it is ready, but not for a player like Lingard. I think he's a decent player, but still hasn't proven himself to be a consistent winner.
-
If his wage demands are too high for us, I can't see how West Ham will agree to them. Unless he's willing to lower them in order to be in London, in which case they can have him.
-
We might upgrade on Joelinton I feel, I could see another midfielder being one of the four signings. But ultimately if those players are starting next season it won't be a disaster. I agree we'll be looking to improve incrementally year on year. What I do feel quite strongly though, is that Eddie will want players who can keep the ball right from the get go next season, anyone who has a penchant for giving it away too easily will be replaced.
-
Well, he's done his job, so can leave in the summer with all our blessings.
-
I can sort of see what he's saying though. Wilson and Schar are good players, but Targett and Joelinton aren't really going to take us forward that much. I think we might well buy Targett though because he''s a very solid defender who will be good for a team in transition. But ultimately he's short of the offensive capability that someone like Trippier provides on the other side.
-
I think Wilson is, only question mark against him is his availability due to repeated injuries. Other than that I consider him to be a top quality Premier striker.
-
He was a one man wrecking crew, I think I posted something similar last month after coming across a biography on Sky, some of the finishes were outlandishly good. I think I always wanted a striker like that at Newcastle, his pace used to frighten the life out of defences.
-
Son. Feels like he should have won player of the season at some point, every game I watch he's banging them in. Some right pearlers as well.
-
One of those youtubers seems convinced Diaby is coming here, he's drooling over a video showing his tricks and goals. All seems very premature but what the heck, why not.
-
We look a totally different team when he's on the pitch, straight away he was attacking the penalty area, and nine times out of ten he buries that one on one. He's still a class striker when he's fit. Great to see him back out there.
