What sort of transfer funds are we talking about? To play the Bielsa way would cost a hell of a lot of money to be successful in the Premier. You need proven quality in every area of the pitch, which Leeds haven't got. Should they go for more pragmatic approach a la Bruce or Allardyce? Possibly, but it's still a recipe for struggle most seasons.

Would be like admitting Leeds can't afford to buy the players which would make his methods work. Truth is, they just aren't a good enough team to play such attacking football. Nothing wrong with Bielsa as a manager IMO, but he needs top players to implement such a style.

Would like to disagree with you, but sadly some of the most popular podcasts/shows on youtube seem to have the thickest hosts. They aren't entirely stupid either, some of them have big opinions, but big opinions based on half knowledge is worse than no opinion tbh.

I wasn't here for the West Ham game, watched the first half when I got back on Sky, and was expecting Murphy to be quite bad having read some of the match thread, but actually thought he looked pretty decent. He's obviously no ASM, but he was quite lively and did well enough as a replacement I thought.

Not sure about the wisdom of moving to the countryside for a young lad from London, must be a massive culture shock. Hopefully he's not feeling too isolated, a nice detached around Ponteland distance would be ideal.

Nailed it. I am not going to have a go at West Brom fans for being clueless, most of them probably just look at his 12th and 13th finishes and think he's done a good job at Newcastle. The real problem is the experts, the football writers who are paid big money by national newspapers to give a more considered view. They seem to be thicker than most fans tbh, it's hard to figure out what makes them qualified as experts.

Almiron is quite capable of carrying the ball forward tbh. He's also good at pressing and tracking back. No end product though, will agree on that.

I'm already imagining his players picking up the newspapers the day after a defeat and faces darkening with rage as they read his quotes passing the blame onto them. He's such a parody man.

That was my point as well really, they weren't really defensive or offensive, they were just box to box, bossing the central area of the pitch in tandem. Obviously they were fantastic footballers technically as well, but it's sort of a similar role to what Joelinton's doing, without either being a specialist in either defensive or offensive positions. Again, I'm not saying JL is in any way that calibre of player, just a similar mold.

Must admit I'm loving that he's back in football....at another club. It's almost like having a second team, I'm looking out for West Brom results after ours. I know that's a slightly warped version of having a second team, but the enthusiasm is there albeit a darker shade somewhat.

What did Vieira and Petit contribute at either end specifically that Joelinton doesn't? Obviously they were better players, but from what I recall they did a similar sort of job, just generally bossed the pitch box to box without specialising in either defending or attacking. Don't recall either of them scoring loads of goals, and Joelinton tracks back and helps out defence pretty diligently.

Aren't all our refs Mike Dean? I genuinely can't tell the difference any more.

But he's still under contract for next season anyway isn't he? Do you really think we'll need him beyond that?
