If we have a big enough budget, I am sure we would love to buy a really outstanding GK. But not sure there are that many around, or that we will be able to land them. James Trafford seems to be the only other serious link, but latest rumours are that Villa will be in for him. They might be better placed considering the season they've had compared to ours.

Definitely it should be. I haven't heard us linked to any outstanding first choice GKs yet though, unless I've missed something. Which tbf is very possible since I'm not checking this thread regularly.
-
I thought the same until I saw Ramsay in goal.
-
If that happens I wonder if any of our national football sports writers would even call it out in any meaningful manner?
-
I think that was probably just Eddie in diplomat mode. If he was seriously considering keeping Ramsdale that would be a sacking offence in it's own right in my book.
-
I don't mind tbh. I know Pope is making mistakes more these days, but I don't know if there is a genuinely good keeper we can source with our funds at the moment. We probably need to target other areas as more of a priority.
-
Aye he loves the club for sure, and tbf he's still capable of putting out some really good articles now and then. I commented on one quite recently that I liked and he's not a petty cunt like so many of the NUFC journalists.
-
If we go for someone like that you would imagine Pope would be no 1. with Jaouen being back up until he's ready to take over.
-
I know that's meant to be a joke but it probably is.
-
What I loved about him was his dedication to the game. You can argue about the style of football he played, but not his reasoning. He had a method, and for us at the time, that was a novelty in itself. The other things he brought of course were high standards. If he didn't think a player was ready he wouldn't play. Still remember getting pissed off when he bought players but refused to play them for two months until they had locked in on fitness and role in the side. We used to finish every season strongly just because he knew how to rotate the squad effectively.
-
He was getting a lot of niggles with us anyway. Nothing serious but there was always a feeling in the back of my mind he was a bit fragile.
-
I thought we should have stood firm at the time, but given his injuries since, I'm kind of glad we got big money for him. He'll never be worth that much again.
-
That rumurs been going strong for about three weeks now. I get the feeling there is some substance to it.
-
He's coming back off a long injury. Hit their results quite badly with him being out for the last two months apparently.
-
Got sick of him a long time ago. I think there used to be a thread where he got his hoop licked constantly for the most part, but for me he stopped being a proper journalist a long time ago. He does write the odd good piece now and again, but I don't really look forward to reading his stuff any more.

At that point it was just great having someone who actually thought about the game seriously. A million miles from the Sounesses, Pardews and Bruces of this world.

Quite liked the football boro attempted to play, but they wouldn't have lasted long in the Premier with that approach. Even at this level, all their good work was up to the penalty area, then when it needed a touch of quality, they didn't have it. Still, props for the approach work. Their manager might do well with better players to work with.

Anything less than that would be a steal. I feel our starting position should have been closer to £85m tbh, I think we have pitched it too low.
-
He'd be much harder to replace than Gordon or Tino. I know he's not had the best season but he looked pretty mint in our latest 4231 formation in the double pivot. Defensively his recovery pace is really important, especially since that's not Bruno's strength.
-
I'd assumed we would only sell if we got a really good price. Is our financial position so precarious that we have to sell our best players this summer regardless?
-
I don't take any links on here seriously tbh. It's nice to speculate, but no way I am going to get my hopes up knowing that the cartel clubs are also watching us like hawks.
-
I don't see there being any club out there that will give us our money back on Wolte, and the idea that we can sell Wissa to Saudi always seems based more on wishes than reality. If we loan him out, where do we get a striker who won't be a massive risk in their own right? The only plausible link I've seen is Nunez and that's assuming he will take a huge drop in wages.

You'd like to think our coaching team should have a good idea on that though.
