Selling Gayle sounds... risky. I do have concerns about him playing as the lone striker in our team in the PL though, I must say. I think he's good enough but only with a true #10 behind him, someone with the movement, intelligence and technique for us to build our attacks through. We don't have such a player in the squad and they're not cheap so we won't be getting one. Always been the issue with Gayle for me, we rarely look capable of building attacks with him leading the line. He's the only goalscorer we have though.

Delighted he's off the mark, having a striker other than Gayle that Rafa fancies as a starter is very important for us. Didn't see the game today but the radio made it sound like he was quite useful in build up play which we lacked up top against Spurs and Huddersfield.

Extended highlights on YT. His failure to come off his line for one of their goals is amazing. Through ball from just inside our half that the striker finishes with a first time volley from the edge of our six yard box. He just stands on his fucking line. Always been my stand out memory of him.

As i have already said we need both, while you are probably right that's depressing in of itself. If we're going with one up top then I think we've got pretty solid options personally. Biggest issue is what's behind them in the #10 role. Perez is alright there if Mitro starts and it sounds like Joselu might suit him too. Problem is that Gayle is our best striker and we have nobody who complements his game at all. De Jong might, I guess, but he can't be relied on at all.

Honestly have no idea what we're at in terms of the collection of front men we're putting together. Why on earth are we not buying an actual AM to play off Gayle? Can this guy play there? Effectively I mean, not just occupying the spot like Perez does. Rafa won't ever switch to 4-4-2 yet we seem to have absolutely no interest in bringing in someone whose game compliments that of our best striker. It's bizarre.

Think Kane should have been sent off personally but you can't have anything other than a zero tolerance policy on players kicking out at each other tbh.

Shelvey just went and got himself sent off for no reason other than he thought he was being really clever and landing a dig on an opponent. I'd be far less annoyed with Shelvey if he'd got a red for making the tackle Kane did. It's still bad but it's far less frustrating.
