£10 on Germany/Argentina. £5 on Draw/Argentina(-1)

Best of luck today lads. Betting on Germany though, think they'll nick it.

Great goal tbf. Gotta head out shortly anyway, best of luck Mike. Hope you guys win in extra time or penalties.

http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php So you don't see the difference? If folk are gonna come on here and pretend to be Newcastle fans, they should bloody well embrace English football and the national team. Ireland have now to do with this forum or the team we're all here for. So should I cheer for Man U, Chelsea and Liverpool then because they're English teams? I've nowt against England, in fact I think the place is great. Met lots of sound people from on here that are English and in general the country has great people and culture. I can't say that I cheer for the English football team, but it's more due to the fact that they play woeful football. I'd rather a team that plays exciting football win. But I'm not going to go tearing into England or rooting against them on here because I know most people on here are English and I don't want to come across as a snide twat who gets his joys in life from laughing at or rooting against others. Apparently though your point was more that because I "pretend to" support Newcastle I should get an English flag tattooed on my arse and sing 'Rule Britannia' while drinking Stella during every English game. I'll only say I disagree with that notion and we'll leave it at that.

Parky and Ozziemandias enjoy a quiet drink together on enemy soil the day before the big game when things take a considerable turn for the worse. A holidaying Mick can also be seen at the 1:40 mark.

Bit rich coming from you that. Why's that? Didn't exactly keep out of the Ireland thread did you?

Hope it goes to penalties, love a good shootout.

Don't know what you're on about. I know Mike has written something similiar, but I haven't seen it. ESPN is promoting US/Ghana heavily, but the only fool I've seen discounting Ghana is Alexi Lalas. And we've come to expect such homer idiocy from him. That's his schtick. Was just trying to wind Mike up tbh. Don't tend to go on many American websites for football news and opinion tbh.

So, Uruguay qualify to play the USA in the last 8 if the US press is to be believed.
-
Teams taking off one of their best players late in a game when they're only a goal up and an equaliser would send it to extra time. That means you, Uruguay!
-
Brilliant, brilliant goal.
-
Would be surprised if this goes to ET, someone will nick it in the next 20 minutes surely with the game being so open?
-
The Uruguayan keeper and #2 want shooting on that. It's the fucking World Cup man, go in with some conviction ffs.
-
Penalty that like.
-
Got Uruguay and a draw in 90 mins for the two games today. 5 returns 30.

Cacau was woeful against Ghana, he's no loss at all with Klose coming back. The big one for Germany is Schweinsteiger. So much of what they do starts with him, if he's out or not at his most effective then that's a really big boost for England because I'm not sure the Germans can replace what he brings to the team.

Ha, gargle my piss Switzerland. Just watched the Spain game on Sky+, fucking delighted that group ended the way it did. Sets up two very tasty games in the next round. On a side note, Barcelona are going to be stupidly good next year. Villa looks a terror playing from the left which is where I assume he'll spend most of his time for Barca.

God I hope Honduras win, would love if both Chile and Spain could get through.
-
They always do. http://www.zonalmarking.net/2010/06/08/marcelo-bielsa-chile-world-cup-2010-tactics/ Worth a read.

Aye, taking a penalty in a shootout is all about bottle and whether you've got the stones for it at the time. Impossible to really say what would happen, as a general rule I wouldn't fancy taking on the Germans at them though. Just having a think about it though, the odds are that to win a World Cup you will have to win a penalty shootout somewhere along the way. Of the last 5 winners, only 1 hasn't had to face a penalty shootout somewhere along the way.

Amazing that some people still hate Maradona. It was 24 years ago lads, time to move on.
