I thought we created a shedload of chances and only poor finishing and some terrific goalkeeping stopped us winning the group. The Germans won't do what the other three sides have and put men behind the ball and that will suit us down to the ground. I actually agree that you'll be better suited to playing against teams that will take the game to you a bit more, but you still looked hopeless in the middle of the field at times and gave the ball away cheaply far too often (Barry being the main culprit). Slovenia couldn't take advantage of it because they're rubbish, the Germans though have the players to make much more of those errors.

Got to agree with Bluf. Maybe I watched a different game yesterday when you played Slovenia? Yes it was better than against Algeria, but you still struggled to put much of note together and ended up beating a very poor team 1-0 without looking particularly great. By all means be optimistic, I actually think you'll beat the Germans if you get your act together and start playing like you're capable of. But if you play like you have so far in the tournament you'll probably get your arses handed to you tbh.

Really? One absolutely top quality performance against the Aussies, and a win against a good Ghana side despite playing the entire game with Cacau up front. Also should have gotten something against Serbia despite wrongly being reduced to 10 men early on. Don't get me wrong I think England have every chance of beating Germany, your defence is solid and I think theirs might just be a bit suspect. But you'll need your attacking players to play a lot better than they have done so far and hope your defence holds up against some better opposition. Just don't see how anyone could say that Germany have looked shit so far, especially considering they've been without Klose for such extended periods of time.

They're really good until they get into the final third of the field. They've no quality whatsoever in and around the box though. Can't believe that one of Uruguay, South Korea, Ghana and the USA are going to be in the semi-final of the World Cup.

Really looking forward to that Germany-England game, fully expect that now you're through the group you'll be a much tougher side to deal with. Think in terms of winning the tournament out you've missed the boat though, too tough a path from here on in barring some serious shocks in other games making things easier for you. Man I celebrated like a lunatic when the US scored for some reason. I wanted them to go through cos they're a much better side to watch than Slovenia but until the goal actually went in I had no idea that I actually wanted them to get through THAT much.

Greece more or less nullified them today, and if they'd had anyone worth a fuck up front they could have done them on the break a couple of times. I can see them getting picked off when they meet a good side tbh. They were 7 men short of their best team... When Di Maria came on and they had some natural width they started to pick through the Greeks much more frequently. I'd imagine much of it was the Greeks knowing they probably had to score to go through though. True enough it wasn't their best 11, but to me they've looked dodgy at the back in all their games thus far.
