we absolutely can’t play the same football with Wilson as we do with Isak. Wilson’s overall game was woeful last year. His performance at home to Dortmund (even if we discount missing an absolute sitter) was horrible.
-
The latest rumour is that Eddie Howe is signing off the signing of a 5”9 striker in Jonathan David? No chance.
-
Kadioglu represented by the agency group of Howe and his nephew so he’ll definitely be on the list. We love buying players from them.
-
We have Steve Harper mate.
-
He’ll sign a new deal in the next 6 months. Deserves one anyway.
-
Close shave but think there will be some big celebrations over how they’ve done. This was always going to be the toughest period to hit PSR for and we’ve done it without losing any of our star players. We have some of the best talent in the world and we likely have a really good budget for this summer. Exciting times.

Having a third choice keeper with as much experience as this lad is no bad thing. Flog him next year or year after.
-
I meant Madueke’s price when he moved from PSV to Chelsea. in answer to the other question re Lyon offering 40m for Minteh, surely no one believes that true. Since when do Lyon drop that sort of cash?
-
Minteh’s real value is probably equivalent to Madueke who went for 28.5m. So it’s a straight swap, you probably overpay for DCL by about 10-12m. That’s the price we may have to take to not breach PSR. I know loads don’t like DCL but Howe clearly does and clearly has a plan for how to use him.
-
Would people be happy with a window that looked like the below? IN Kelly Trafford DCL Neto/Raphinha Diomande Archie Gray OUT Dubs Wilson Almiron longstaff Minteh (with buy back) got to look at the DCL and Minteh business in the context of entire window.
-
It’s not a makeweight though- not in its traditional sense. It’s a PSR workaround that allows to sell Minteh for 10-15m more than we’d get from anyone else. Can maybe realise 30m profit this year based on that sale. Throw in a buy back clause and a sell on and we’re ok.
-
I think this is exactly where the Minteh rumours have come from. Everyone knew there wasn’t really a market to sell him for £40m but now that’s been established. So we buy DCL for an inflated price and sell Minteh for an inflated price. Throw in a buy back and it solves PSR issues for us for the season. Buy back Minteh for 60m if he fires in the prem and if he doesn’t, we’ve lost nothing. Probably a sell on clause too.
-
Is Lewis Dobbin worth buying? let’s just find a club (let’s call them Man City) who similarly want to get round the system and sell them average youth players in exchange for their average youth players. None of them ever have to play a game, we can farm them out on loan and then sell them.
-
Called this weeks ago. Dodgy swap deals a way to get around PSR. villa also sold Cameron Archer to Sheff U for 18m with an automatic 14m buy back a year later. Effectively a 4m loan but villa bank 18m as sale and then spread 14m over 5 years when they buy back. Meanwhile we twiddle our thumbs and don’t do anything to work around these stupid rules.
-
yes but they went silly with it. 70m for Arthur and 60m for Pjanic.
-
Duran will go to Chelsea for an inflated price and Gallagher will go to Villa for an inflated price. Both win from a PSR perspective and the overall difference between values remains the same.

Dan Ashworth (no longer working for Manchester United)

It’s brilliant that they’ve went out to get all the best people to run the show and the best they can come up with for the managers job is to appoint Brailsford’s and Ashworth’s mate whose only club role saw him get Boro relegated. -
If they are going for Broja, that probably means DCL is off. They play one up and they already spent a fair bit on Beto.
-
If they do get relegated, fair market value will stop them being able to justify big deals and they could have a number of years where they don’t have the money to make it all work. relegation means little to them if fair market value is gone. Massive etihad deal, smash the championship, win the league following year.
-
We don’t need more pace, we need someone from the right who can break down a defence with some guile or creativity. Adeyemi just runs in straight lines, doesn’t really beat a man and can’t finish. Quick but so is Almiron…
-
Imagine paying to go see this.
-
a disgrace that the club who pay him asked him to play through an injury in an absolutely massive game. Should have subbed him immediately so he can go sit on the bench for England at the Euros. Added bonus of him then returning back late to pre season. Fuck International football.
-
Moukoko is with the same agent group as Howe so he ticks that box we like… injury prone too so he’d fit in there too.
-
which game was this sorry? Just looked at Brentford at anfield since promotion and each game he played with Toney or Wissa in a 3-5-2.
-
I hear people say mbuemo can play across the front 3 but he’s 5”7 and from what I can see he’s only ever played up front next to Toney or Wissa. Never going to work in our system as a striker. We need a striker who can play in place of Isak or with him if we go 2 up top.
