Newcastle United transfer rumours in the press
captainhaircut replied to Kaizero's topic in Football
He goes past players as if they aren't there and actually uses his pace which is a significant upgrade on Obertan. Still only 21 so would be an interesting signing as long as he's not first choice. -
Florian Lejeune (now playing for Rayo Vallecano)

Lascelles looked perfectly fine under Rafa in the prem and also looked very solid with Clark in our run before xmas. I think it's perfectly fair to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume playing with a hernia impacted his game in the second half of the season. -
Rafa or someone close to him has clearly briefed this since they've all released it at the same time. It'll just be to pressure them into taking action.

He's followed us on twitter n'all. He also recently started following Glentoran. He was at Glentoran as a kid. Not sure he has any link to us. -
As sad as it is, I had googled how tall he was last week and got a load of different heights. Looked at the end to see how tall her was compared to other players and he was pretty much the same as Solanke who is listed everywhere as 6"1.

According to transfermarkt, he's represented by a company who predominately manage English players. Will probably just be agents trying peddle him to an English club. -
A number of Burnley fans I know also said Ings, Rodriguez and Austin weren't that good. He's quick with good movement and a great work rate. Touch is ok and finishing is hit and miss. Main concern is that most of his good work has come playing off Barnes or Vokes. Not sure how he'd do as a lone striker.

Absolutely love D & B. Missus never buys it though. Should sack her off really.
-
He played 12 games for us in the second tier.
-
The bigger picture? Looking at our next 10 games, I can see only 3 I actually expect us to win. That number becomes 0 if anything happens to Shelvey.
-
I think you could argue that he's at least close to the below keepers. Obviously not better than all of them but that's 11 where it's hardly a massive gap and he has more potential than most of them. Bravo (as a keeper in the English league) Mignolet/Karius Gomes Pickford McGregor Fabianski Adrian Joel Foster Valdes Heaton
-
As they triggered his release clause, surely they had to pay the full lot up front?
-
Well, that's really not true, is it? I went through and counted 7 games where I would say we performed at the level you would want and expect.
-
Big Rafa supporter but I have to admit I'm not really enjoying this season. We should be hammering some of the sides we're coming up against but you can probably count on 1 hand the games where we have played well.

Newcastle United 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday - 26/12/16 - Match Thread

Delighted we made an early decision on Shelvey so we weren't distracted. We effectively decided that we were better off Shelvey missing this game then Rotherham at home (when we may have actually been able to bring someone in) which is fucking ridiculous. Colback a complete waste of a shirt. -
Do we not just want it over and done with? Would quite like us to win football matches. There would be no uncertainty or doubts, we would know Sheff Qrd would be his last game. We could confirm no appeal the morning after. I can only imagine they intend to use Diame deeper which means they want the suspension done in the most part before he goes to the ACON. The plan should be to sign some fucker though.
-
Seems absolutely ridiculous. At least wait to confirm no appeal and have him play against Sheff Wed. That way it's just two league games until we can bring someone in.
-
I see the incompetent dropped Townsend yesterday. He's probably amazed that he hasn't been brilliant playing from the left when anyone with eyes knows he's far, far more threatening from the right.
-
I wasn't at the Norwich game so forgive me, but how did he nearly cost us the game? Didn't he play a key role in both the late goals? We wouldn't have scored those types of goals without him on the pitch so that surely shows his value?

Aston Villa 1-1 Newcastle United - 24/09/16, post match from pg. 27

Why did he wait until 80 minutes to put Mitro on? The match had turned by then. Putting Hanley on the bench instead of Mbemba also shown up with Hayden having to go to right back and a unfit Tiote coming on. -

I remember him being excellent in the cup final- MOTM after giving Clichy a right going over. He'll give us a nice balance on the right of Ritchie is out. -

Might we be televised in the US now? -

I thought he looked significantly improved at the end of last season. His pace in this league will actually make him a real force so I'm quite happy with this. I certainly didn't see anything to suggest he's much worse than Janmaat last year.
