It's hardly going to be teams from Scotland or Wales, it's English teams, whether they're all Premiership sides, then who knows. I don't know, Rangers is a possibility

I guess you haven't seen how Setanta are selecting their games, 40 out of 46 will involve "the top four" http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/digitaltv/a42470/setanta-launches-on-dtt.html

The SUN !!!! Still marginally more reliable than the Daily Star, which doesn't say a lot -

Apparently Arsenal are in advanced negotiations with us over Martins, although they're not willing to meet the release fee http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2002390000-2007300614,00.html -
They were using them in a couple of the turnstiles in level 7 in the 2nd half of the season as a test. They're completely useless, its not even like an oyster card but instead a barcode reader, until people get used to them getting into the ground will be a nightmare.

I'd take Sven over Sam. England weren't a particularly attractive team to watch but it would beat watching Bolton style football every week. He'd also be able to attract top name players and I imagine he'd have access to a more global network of contacts than Roeder or Graeme "Did he play for Rangers?" Souness ever managed to bring to the club

Its hard to give it up, what else am I going to do on a Saturday. Surely another good protest would have been not to buy the shirt but sadly given by the number today any such campaign would be coming a little late

I have to go with Arsenal, mainly because I went to uni down south and had to put up with their fans during their unbeaten season

About the high-ball situation: there was a concerted effort on Monday to play it out from the back, from what I could see. With a proper left-back in there and another centre-back who is decent on the ball (i.e. not Onyewu), this gave me quite a bit of hope for next season as it seemed a definitive new "ploy". Most of the time it went to waste, like, because Harper came on and was about as horizontal as possible, constantly wasting outlets that Carr and Solano had attempted to provide for him. Nevertheless, it definitely seemed to me like the penny had dropped and that we're going to attempt to build from the back in future a bit more. I don't see it as concerted effort to play it from the back but more the difference that Emre makes to the team. He is always looking to come back collect the ball from the defenders and then play it out. This simply doesn't happen with Parker and Butt in the middle as neither ever come looking for the ball, forcing our defenders to hoof it long.

This article misses out the best line: from teamtalk.com " "Now, anyone who comes here will be my signing. I am happy to be judged on (Obafemi) Martins, (Antoine) Sibierski and (Damien) Duff, but three signings is not my squad. "If we can get another four then half the squad will be mine." " So it looks like a squad is now 14 players, well at least it'll keep Freddy happy with the wage bill

I was more talking about his performances last season when he couldn't even get into the U21 squad. I may be wrong but I think with the exception of Boumsong none of our French players have recieved a full cap while at Newcastle. I know Ginola fell out with the coach, but Robert was completely ignored and Bernard only ever made it into a preliminary squad (although that was probably fair enough).
-
This is why we'll end up losing N'Zogbia, 2 players who have done very little but play for big teams walk into the French full squad, N'Zogbia has struggled to even be included in the U21 squad.

http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=454518&CPID=219&clid=368&lid=554&title=France+call+Diaby+and+Diarra&channel=& France call Diaby and Diarra Midfield duo Abou Diaby and Lassana Diarra have been named in the France squad for the double-header against Lithuania and Austria later this month. Arsenal's Diaby (pictured) and Chelsea's Diarra are not regulars for their clubs but have still done enough to be called up by their country for the first time. Coach Raymond Domenech has also named Marseille's teenage striker Samir Nasri and Monaco frontman Frederic Piquionne in his 23-man squad. "They are young players, they are playing - and for big clubs. It will be interesting to see them," said Domenech. "I already have an idea about those who will start against Lithuania. "We have injuries so it isn't an easy time for us. Both matches are important for us." Domenech is without injured stars Thierry Henry, Franck Ribery, Louis Saha and captain Patrick Vieira, but there is no place for Juventus striker David Trezeguet. Bolton striker Nicolas Anelka is selected alongside former Liverpool man Djibril Cisse. Arsenal defender William Gallas is back, and there are also recalls for Lyon forwards Sylvain Wiltord and Karim Benzema, who return after long-term thigh injuries. Les Bleus, who are level with Scotland at the top of Group B, play Lithuania in a Euro 2008 qualifier in Kaunas on 24th March and Austria in a friendly four days later in Paris. Full squad: Coupet (Lyon), Landreau (Paris St Germain); Abidal (Lyon), Escude (Sevilla), Mexes (Roma), Squillaci, Clerc (both Lyon), Gallas (Arsenal), Sagnol (Bayern Munich), Thuram (Barcelona); Diaby (Arsenal), Makelele (Chelsea), Nasri (Marseille), Diarra (Chelsea), Mavuba (Bordeaux), Toulalan (Lyon); Anelka (Bolton), Cisse (Marseille), Malouda, Benzema, Govou, S Wiltord (all Lyon), Piquionne (Monaco).

I'm not a fan and I'm sure it will disappear sooner rather than later as it must be considered a constraint on trade so I'm just waiting for a team to challenge it in a European court
-
I think this sums up our transfer policy perfectly. Go and enquire about a player, get told the asking price, offer just over half, get told to piss off and then whinge that the players just aren't available in the january transfer window

Your right I can't wait to see Total Network Solutions play Linfield.

I'm sure the money is there if a Willie McKay or Paul Stretford player becomes available

I've not read much on what he has to say, to be fair, but like I said, on the 3 team limit I have to agree. 4 linesmen seems fairly sensible too. Be interested to see what he's said on other things if that's the impression you've got like. I've never seen his comments on the 4 linesmen. What happens if one gives offside and the other doesn't?

I'm very against reducing the champions league places. I want to see the best teams play the best teams, I can't imagine getting excited by seeing Barcelona playing the Slovakian champions. It could also make the Premierleague even less competitive than it is already, if only 3 teams get the money and its the same 3 a few seasons in a row then it'll be hard for the other one of the big four ever to catch up. I also just dislike Platini, does anyone else remember his quote that there shouldn't be tackles in football and that play should be broken down by interceptions?
