Newcastle are set to confirm the appointment of Alan Shearer as their new manager. Sky Sports News understands that The Magpies will release a statement on Wednesday confirming that Shearer will be back at St James' Park to take charge for the final eight matches of the season.

Another danish talent is going over for a weeks trial. Kevin Mensah is 17 years old and plays for Viborg in Denmark. He was on a week trial with Newcastle last season and he impressed Newcastles scandinavian scout Ole Nielsen.

I'm not worried that we haven't scored, but i'm worried that our best defensive midfielder is still Nicky Butt. I'm worried that Geremi is obviously still preferede to take care of corners and freekicks, even though he can't lift the ball more than one yard off the ground. And then i am really worried what's gonna happen if Martins and Owen gets injured at the same time, cause Smith and Ameobi is really s**** and i doubt Viduka is any good either without Owen or Martins at his side.

I'm very devided in this matter, I really like Joey Barton as a footballer, he's a great midfielder and obviously the best central midfielder we have at the moment. But this behaviour is just no acceptable, you can make a mistake once, but Barton has made a lot of mistakes now and this surely must be the last chance he get, not only from us but also from the police. I welcome him back, and this time stay out of trouble...
