Millwall? Edit: Ah right, I see what you mean now. Its like that nickle riddle from Scrubs.
  3. Puts to bed the"doom & gloom, football is dead now, only the top four can win ANYTHING, we may as well not bother" notion, were certainly a few threads along those lines at the start of the season.
  4. Just have to hope we stay up and in the summer buy a few strikers like Farfan and Huntelaar (set sights high if we are rich), then get rid of these overrated donkeys up front who either cant run or cant control a football. Having said that, Martins is our only hope of staying up for me, along with Zog playing in his natural position (LW).
  5. To repeat, and its not easy to explain, hes simply too heavy footed for my liking. Like Lampard without the ability (defensive or not). Hes not slow per se, but he plays like he is. Awkward fullback, and I can see why both Allardyce and Keegan have been somewhat reluctant to play him despite the lack of any real alternatives. On that note, whoever gives Allardyce his next job needs to make sure he spends no more than £2mill per player. Beye and Faye were good signings at good prices, but Smith, Barton and Enrique have been woeful for the money spent and in terms of what the team needed. £18m spent on weakning the side and possibly getting us relegated. No doubt hes too "strong minded" to ever accept his faults in this.
  6. Anyone? Keep him fit and happy. Ashley's birthday is coming up soon and Smith's body needs to be as tight as possible if hes to smash out of the giant cake wearing a thong and a "come get me big boy" tshirt.
  7. Ashley owns the club, fans are the customers.
  8. But what about the wonderful Alan Smith? Hes a good forward, as those with age and wisdom have said on here many a time.
  9. The actual goal was not his fault, but boy is he slow to clear his lines.

Hes been awesome today. Reads things well, quick to the ball, very strong, good ball control, doesnt waste possession. Looks like he'll be an excellent bargain at £5m, considering Hargreaves and Mascherano will have cost £17m each.

Rooney having his usual rush of blood. Diarra with some quality DM play.
  12. Pirlo is having his usual big game stinker.
  13. aye, presiding over a relegation struggle and preaching financial prudence is just great New board, new to the game, learning, etc. And being in relegation trouble is mostly down to the shit management of the club under Shepherd since the Robson debacle. One mistake, like failing to bring a manager in quick enough to comfortably sign players during a window where most players arent available anyway, should not see our club in such dire trouble, yet it has because of the generally woeful squad built by the previous chairman and his terrible managerial appointments.
  14. As long as the chairman learns from his mistakes, something which Shepherd never learned to do, I'll be very happy. At the moment, the only mistake hes made is not sacking Big Sam sooner and bringing Keegan in before the opening of the January transfer window.
  15. One of Owen's headers was deflected into the net by a defender.
  16. Mark Viduka is also someone who needs shot of. Overweight, lazy, slow player.
  17. Not a fan. Hes slow off the mark, not very mobile or agile, and seems to be very heavy footed. Almost like a centreback playing at left back. Like with Smith, if the fee had been minimal, the player's averageness combined with his limitations would be acceptable. But we've paid £6mill for someone who doesnt provide what we need from a fullback in the Premiership - hes not agile or quick enough on the ball to be effective going forward, yet hes not looked a particularly good defender to compensate for not being an attacking fullback. And on top of not being particularly good defensively, he lacks the recovery pace and mobility of someone like Beye, making things worse. Again, this doesnt mean that hes shit, just that hes in no way worth the £6mill we paid for him. If we can recoup £5mill, then I would hope we do so without thinking twice, because im certain we could get someone at the same level for far less (didnt City sign Ball on a free or something?). Alot of the £6mill we paid for Enrique will have been down to him being young, an U21 starlet with good potential. But potential seems to be a myth when it comes to us, we'd probably have to go back a decade to Shay in order to find a young player with potential who actually improved with us. So going by our track record, Enrique isnt going to improve by much, and in that case he's nowhere near a £6m player, and we'd be better off with the money in the bank and looking to do another Faye/Beye type deal on the cheap in order to find someone adequate for this level.

    Alan Smith

Seem to have gone a bit quiet mate, still waiting for one of them to pop up with the old "not all forwards are there to score goals you know, so clueless etc etc....". The best was accusing anyone who thought Smith was shit of having negative bias, which was also used during Bowyer's shit 3 years here, an arguement which made no sense since everyone loved Woodgate when he was with us (something to do with him actually being a good player).
  19. When Carlos Tevez turned it on and carried them into the safety zone. We dont have a player of Tevez's calibre, just players with frustratingly big reputations who are pretty shit.
  20. Martins needs to start, and Owen needs to start on the bench.
  21. Been pointed out a thousand times, but Ameobi was good for the U21's.
