Just some of my random thoughts on other clubs summer transfers. - Hull City have done brilliantly so far. Brought in 6 players, 5 of whom have premiership experience (admittedly to varying degress of success). Look to be hot on the trail of King and Meite. Really impressed with them as despite me having a soft spot for them I thought they would certainly go down, now I think they are giving themsleves a chance to stay up. - Spurs look set to ruin a potentially very good summer. Modric and Gomes especially should do well for them but any progress they make will be instantly ruined if they sell Berbatov and Keane. Also rumours say Chimbonda and Malbranque could be on their way out and in my opinion they are both important players for Spurs especialy if they want to compete in 4 competitions. - What a load of rubbish Fulham are signing. Can't believe they paid £6.3m for Zamora (who scored 1 goal last season) and Pantsil (who started 7 games in 2 years).

Get your facts right. The first mention of a Guthrie deal came at about Midday on Friday when the Liverpool Echo reported a bid had been accepted then the deal was announced as official by 8pm that night by us. Also another club was involved in the Gutierrez deal because he had to hand in his notice to Mallorca several days after the season finished.

Frings over Butt anyday... We should be looking to replace Butt with someone younger though, not 32. Frings would no doubt want a two-year contract which means we'dd be stuck with him until he was 34.

In a way I'm glad I wasn't completely sold on him due to his poor form in the last season or two and his injury record. There are certainly less risky buys out there. Also I'm not totally sure we were actually after him. We've been doing our transfer business very quietly since the Ashley takeover so I'd be surprised if a deal leaked to the press when it wasn't imminent. Can see it possibly being the agent hyping up the rumours to get more money.

IF we do sign I'd be cautiously optimistic. If he can regain his form then he'd be an absolute steal at £7m but it feels like we've been here before, signing a big name player who hasn't been at the top of his game for atleast a year or two and who has had a few injury problems. I really do hope if we sign him he comes good but as I say I'm not getting too carried away.

Yes. I've seen Krul on a number of occasions and he is miles better than Forster and has the potential to in a year or two be as good or better than Harper and Given imo.

It's Aimar NEWCASTLE - Have made a £7 million offer for Pablo Aimar at Zaragoza. He has chosen the Toon over Portsmouth and Benfica with Sunderland also keen. Why is that of interest to Rovers? No idea. I'm just showing off.

Your judging these problems based on reading about him in the papers for 2 weeks? Personnally I don't think he's done anything wrong, he's 27 so this will be his last major payday so what so wrong with him trying to get every penny he possibly can.

Have we learnt nothing? Signed Duff after an injury ravaged year and he's subsequently hardly played and never regained that high standard. Emre, Dyer and Viduka have laso been perma-crocks over the last few seasons. The last thing we need is an aging player with a poor injury record. We've seen with Emre that even if you have the footbaling talent if you can't get n the pitch then your useless.

Do you feel that Boothroyd might be losing it a bit? I thought he was one of the best young managers a few years back but he seems to have lost it now, I saw some comments from him recently saying that he didnt think he needed an assistant manager, which to me is a mistake. Also a lot of Watford's best players have been sold and Boothroyd's buys havent been the best.
