Gokhan Inler, Udinese to Newcastle - Insider says: 4/5 The Italian club have offered the promising Swiss midfielder improved terms but Newcastle's executive director (football) Dennis Wise has reached an agreement with the player's agent. A deal in the region of £4million will be done. Link

Shields Gazette are saying he is out today as well.
-
I'm pretty sure the guy who does the website is just an employee of the club and isn't kept informed on our transfer dealngs. Therefore he's probobly just told to go through the papers and put what he sees on the website. Then when deal is done he'll be told to post it on the website.

Wouldn't want to sign anyone that we automatically class as backup or squad player. Our team is below average, our squad is small, so anyone we do sign has be on a par or better then what we have & have as good as chance as the fella he competing with to play. In a perfect world I agree but if we can't get the quality we still need a player in who can play that position. The last thing we want is signing nobody and then having Enrique break his leg on September 1st and having play a midfielder or youngster at LB until January.
-
Was just having a look and we stil need a lot of new players. Backup RB CB Backup LB Atleast 1 CM Another Striker So that's atleast 5 new faces we need in, assuming we don't sell anyone else. Can we get them and more importantly can we get the quality?

Sebastian Larsson - agent confirms NUFC interest
stozo replied to Captain Underpants's topic in Football
Link Agent confirms we have made an offer but he hasn't heard from us in the last week. -
Makes sense with Aragones going there as well.
-
On a non-NUFC related note I can see MON turning Sidwell into a very good player.

Should bid £15m just to see how far we get. Surely worth a try.

There was talk a while ago that Forecast and Joe Martin were Southampton targets but not seen or heard anything since. IIRC, they were being touted for season long loans but Joe Martin (Alvin's boy) was sold last week to Blackpool. TF from what I've seen of him has decent potential but not great, maybe Championship standard. I think David Button, the England u19 keeper has far more potential than Forecast, but that's not saying he'd necessarily make Premiership quality either. I'm hearing that Forecast will be signing for Southampton this week. Confirmed. GG is officially ITK.

Exactly what was needed.

Absolutely crazy. Any club would be mad to pay anything near that.
-
That's what the BBC's South American reporter Tim Vickery had to say about him.
-
Doesn't seem to have done Frasier Campbell any harm mind. You've hit the nail on the head their. Frazier Campbell has done well but he is 20 and those 2 years older than our youngsters will mean he is much more fully developed physically and more able to withstand the physical nature of the Championship.
-
Gomes? Dodgy keeper? I'd say Gomes is definetly not a dodgy keeper. Certainly a VAST improvement over Robinson.
-
So you would presume if we are paying a few million for a keeper then one of Harper or Given is leaving.
-
Wikipedia (I know) says he is a 24-year old Argentinian goalkeeper who plays for Estudiantes de La Plata.

Won't be going just yet. Beye, Enrique, Faye, Taylor, Cacapa and Edgar are currenlty our only defenders. So unless we sign atleast 2 or 3 defenders he'll be staying here this season. Plus his contract is up at the end of the season so he certainly won't be going anywhere on a season long loan.
-
The problem I think we will have is the Championship is becoming less skillful and more physical ever year, just look at Hull and Stoke (Bristol City as well) last season. That really doesn't suit a player like Kazenga or any other youngster who isn't quite fully physically developed yet. This is a particular problem with our academy currently as a lot of the bright prospects are still very young. Also increasingly your not going to be able to loan to the Premiership as managers want players who will make an instant impact not a kid who you are developing for another team.
-
Will someone really pay that much for him? I certainly don't think any of the Big 4 would. Don't think that Barca are that desperate for him either. At that price the only place I could maybe see him going is Bayern.

With Intermedia confirming it has been approached it has even me wondering if Ashley is really trying to flog the club. Hope to god it's not true but there's a part of me that fears it is.

Those still worried about how our summer is going. Let's look at our European rivals. Newcastle - Signed 1 Tottenham - Signed 3 West ham - Signed 1 - a 17-year old Portsmouth - Signed 1 Man City - Signed 1 Everton - Signed 1 - Player was on loan with them last year anyway Blackburn - Signed 0 Aston Villa - Signed 1 - Player was on loan with them last year anyway So 1 team has signed more players than us. I'd say on that basis we are very much on course.

But then he'd have to come out and deny every rumour everytime a false claim came out. If he released quotes saying he has no plans of selling to 'American investors', then the next time something came up (selling a player, selling the club etc.), if he didn't release quotes denying it then, it'd be "OMG! Ashley has denied to comment therefore he definitely wants to sell!!! Buy our paper!!" You either comment on everything or nothing and sadly, it's easier to remain silent. I see your piont but this links in with another piont I made in another thread. Ashley needs to do a big interview for the official website underlining his long term ambitions and plans for the club and in doing that make it perfectly clear he has no intention of selling the club at any price. Would also be ideal if he did this interview on camera and sent it to SSN as well. At the moment to the general fan Ashley is a owner who has not invested heavily in the playing squad and is constantly linked with selling the club, which is obviously not a positive image. He needs to outline the general transfer philosophy of the club to fans and make it clear that he does not want to sell, only then will these rumours stop.
-
In a sense the papers are right that the silence does fuel the speculation. We never hear anything from Ashley and that only increases press speculation. If instead of sending out a nameless spokesperson he'd gave the same quotes to the official website it would have silenced the rumours.
