£2m There is a reason why Watford are the only club interested.

Wouldn't even be the best strikeforce we've had since we came into the Premier League and it wouldn't be the best strikeforce in the league at present either. Owen 20+ goals a season providing he doesn't get crippled, Martins should be good for atleast 15+ and the Bent could produce another 20 goals. Can't think of many other clubs that can produce that sort of goal power.
-
Get him. As much as we have other priorities I am salivating over the thought of Owen, Martins and Bent as our first three strikers. I dare say those 3 together could form the most lethal strikeforce the league has ever seen.

Corners have been awful in recent times, free kicks just as bad and we have been useless at throw-ins for years.

Scouts don't really scout in the FM way where you dispatch them to scour Europe for a Left back. Mainly the manager will tell them a specfic target to scout or they will get a tip off about a promising player from an agent. Also a lot of there work is done with the academy, looking for that years influx of players.

Not worthy of it's own thread really. All the article says is we have been linked with him in the past, it does not say we are a club that has made an enquiry.

http://home.skysports.com/transferarticle.aspx?hlid=439393 I seriously hope there is no truth to this article as Milner has been very good for us this season and it would be stupid to let him go, even if we were to bring SWP in.

You forgot "Souness WAS a brilliant manager".
-
Hope to god it's not us.
-
All the club's backroom staff has left the club.

We have a chance depending on what he wants. If he wants regular first team football then Us and Tottenham are the only two teams who will give it him and we have a chance. However if he isn't that bothered about first-team football then we stand no chance against Liverpool, Arsenal and Man U.
-
Have you seen him defend or just the free kicks and crosses? He would be a liability in our team. Manu wouldn't use him for about 2 seasons, in fact they'd probably play him as a winger, and Wenger would need to seriouslt work on the lad before throwing him in. If we brought him here it would be a waste of time and we'd waste his talent. I've seen 4 full Southhampton games this season plus the a couple of extended highlight on the Championship programme. I would say from what I've seen he'd be no worse at defending than Baba and Edgar and while in his first year or so he may make a few mistakes as all youngsters do I believe he is good enough to recover and go on to be a great defender. He may not be a Wayne Bridge standard left back straight away but with a bit of patience and a few years I think he will be brilliant.
-
It's a gamble we should take. This kid has bags of talent and I truly believe in 2 or 3 years he will be the best left back in the country. He will not be a superstar straight away as he is still quite an average defender but going forward he is simply brilliant, he provides tons of support for his winger and is a good crosser of the ball. Also as everyone knows he knows how to take a free kick.

If you think the likes of Pantsil, Spector, Reid, El Karkouri and Priskin will ever make it at this club you need your head checking.

Players in bold are the only ones I'd even consider buying. The rest are unproven and not fit for a team that has aspirations of getting back into the Champions League. I'd take Nugent along with them 3, personally. Don't think he'll ever do the business at the level we are aiming for tbh. Would suit a bottom half team but hopefully we will soon move away from that area.

The two teams in Manchester have always been refered to as United and City. You don't see Birmingham fans moan when commenters refer to Man City simply as City against them.
-
To be fair Tottenham's signings wouldn't be considered major. They signed a 17 year old on loan and signed a backup keeper from Sunderland. Niether signing is going to have a great impact on there chances this season.
-
So getting a story from a player at the club is not creditable? It has just been announced on local Radio . Radio Solent. I'll reserve my judgement but 99% of people who say they have a source or know someone at a club are lying.
-
To be honest the whole signing a player before the window opens never usually works from what I've heard. This is mainly because clubs are very reluctant to sell as the theory is it often unsettles the player who then has to play for the club he is still at for a couple of weeks before moving.
-
What gives you the idea we have £10 million? The fact is nobody knows how much money we have so there is no piont in guessing.
-
Krul is nowhere near ready yet. Given should be first choice for atleast the next 3 seasons.
-
Don't think that really tells the whole story. We did much better in the League Cup this year and we are progressing very nicely in the UEFA Cup.

Well technically we knew about Duff the monday before but nothing was confirmed officialy until the Friday or Saturday. I would prefer they kept all transfers quiet. blueconfused.gif He was linked to Spurs all through the week, then the first thing about Newcastle was on the Friday when the Mirror back page said we were signing him and then in the afternoon Chelsea announced the accepted bid and he was signed on Saturday night.
