From the Times Can't wait for tomorow night now!
-
Firstly I don't want it to happen, secondly I don't think Fat Fred will be too keen to sack Roeder and thirdly I don't think he has the money to sack Roeder and his staff, bring in Allardyce and his staff and then fund this summer's purchases.
-
I'm just waiting for someone to take the oppurtunity to slag off Roeder for trying to sign Campbell, when in reality the story is just a paper filler.
-
Wouldn't be happy. Jussi is no better the Given and it would be a waste of time when you consider we have more important areas to address.
-
I'm not so sure. Roeder has admitted his squad is too small so he could be increasing the size.
-
Not Guilty. We must keep him until the end of next season and then judge him. If he has failed next year I will be more tha happy to see him go but not this year.
-
NO! We don't need another mdiget striker who is crap at 1-on-1's.
-
Are you crazy? We are not exactly short on midget strikers are we? Would much rather finally solve our LB problem with Baines, although I wouldn't wat Davies.
-
Would love Barnes, especially if we could get rid of Dyer.
-
You don't need to judge Roeder on one season, look what he did in previous jobs, anyway, we're told we can't judge him on one season yet he was given the job on the back of a few games, its laughable. I'm not going to go look it up but I'm sure their are a couple of Premiership who have had terrible times at other clubs. Also the way I see it adding to the team Owen will add a minimum of 10 pionts over the season, which would have made us UEFA Cup this team this term.
-
And we've played some wonderful stuff this season Alkmaar at home, Reading at Home, Pompey at home (In the Carling cup). Three good performances this year that were really entertaining to watch. With a little bit better luck with injuries next year I'm sure we will see more of that.
-
Roeder, you can't judge the guy on one season, especially one where he has had the worst injury crisis in Premiership history. WE'd be right bakc where we were last summer if we brough in Allardyce.
-
Don't want him. Bolton play ugly football and i never want to see that sort of play at Newcastle.
-
I would be very surprised if their was a season ticket price rise, although i wouldn't expect a price drop either. Fat Fred knows that with most other mid-table teams dropping theirs Newcastle can't raise their own.
-
Dyer is s f****** waste of time, when will people realise this. He's massively overpaid and when has he ever steped up in a big game, he was crap in Alkmaar and although he got a goal that night in Lisbon he was basically a passenger that night as well. Couple that with several uninspiring performances this season and he has to go. Also you say we can't get a better player than Dyer for £6m, but where do we play him? He's not a striker, he's a very average right winger and Milner plays it better than him and if Sidwell joins as it looks like it will that fills up all the positions in the centre of midfield.
-
Not dismissing this but all he really says he would be willing to play Intertoto if he had too. Says nothing really about Pompey applying.
-
Because as well as playing one two-legged tie they will also have to play UEFA Cup qualification. This alll starts very early and disrupts the clubs preseason, also statistics show that as the season goes on squads who have particpated in things like this tend to get more injuries.
-
This seems to suggest that Portsmouth haven't applied and assuming Tottenham qualify in 7th that would mean we are only 2 pionts off the Intertoto place. Can someone clarify if Portsmouth have or have not applied I cant clarify but if this is true and Tottenham finish 7th we need to finish higher then Blackburn to play in the Intertoto, right? Yup, that's right.

Ghanesian* What? Is that meant to be some sort of joke that I'm missing.
-
Just like we played better last week you mean?
-
I think you're dead-wrong with progression on the younger players. IMO, any 18-year old would get improved confidence by being the preffered option by his manager, and I especially feel this for Carrol, as he's been working hard all season and probably feels that he might deserve to play in the last few games. The problem is if he does have an awful game Roeder will have to drop him. Also it may well give him a false idea of his place in the team and may unsettle him when it comes to next season and he is back down with the reserves. Also, I don't think Shola and Owen will be too happy about being stopped from returning because Roeder is experimenting with a kid.
-
Apart from the fact that is a completely insane idea, LuaLua got injured playing for the U18's yesterday.
-
The same reason we shouldn't have played LuaLua earlier this season when people were calling for him. While there maybe nothing to lose for the team there is plenty to lose for Carroll in terms of his progression. It has been shown with Zog this year how much of a factor confidence is for a young player and if Carroll is thrown into the starting lineup on live TV against Reading and ends up having a stinker it could really damage his confidence. I'm not against him getting some experience off the bench but I think starting him would be silly. Also, I don't think the season is over. Every place is worth £500,000 and if someone like Portsmouth do have a end of season collapse we need to be there to take advantage.
