Ask him if we are going to just hoof the ball up front and bypass the midfield considering we still have a lack of flair players who can change a game. If he says that he's not going to bypass the midfield then ask him who he'll be bringing in to link the play from back to front.

Taylor has the makings of a very good footballer and it's up to the club to get the best out of him, to do that he needs to be playing next to somebody who he can learn from. If we can get an old pro to bring out the best of him then he can become a very, very good player. I think he's got a better chance of realising his potential now than he had this time last year, I remember commenting that I though Taylor had stagnated because of who he was playing with week in and week out, most of that dross has now gone so if we bring in the right people then Taylor can start to learn again and produce the kind of performances we all know/hope he's capable of.

If Ashley has put together a fixed amount of money which he is going to spend on the club, I would guess that he has. Then the two parasites are taking even more money from the club. Almost £2 million in compensation for losing the jobs which they gave themselves and the extra £300k Shepherd gained by haggling for an extra penny. Supporters my arse. Does this look like a good description of our directors? An organism that grows, feeds, and is sheltered on or in a different organism while contributing nothing to the survival of its host.

I really hope that's sarcasm.

I'll never forget the pictures of Bobby walking to his car after being sacked, I look forward to seeing Shepherd do the same.
-
I'll not make a prediction yet but we've seen what a good transfer window and a good manager can do. If we do good business then I see no reason that we can challenge up to 4th place, time will tell.

It takes longer than 5 minutes to get to the M1 from Derby, never mind Nottingham. The counties are next to each other but the Cities are not 5 minutes apart, unless you fly over by plane.
-
I wouldn't worry too much about who is right or wrong, one is history and the other is probably on borrowed time, with a bit of luck neither will ever again have any decisions to make regarding who comes and goes.
-
I wouldn't call it a u-turn unless you said you didn't want him back at any cost then changed your mind. I'd rather win the lottery jackpot but I'd still take 5 balls plus the bonus.
-
I liked Bellamy but would rather he didn't come back, if he's brought back then I'll go along with it as I don't think he's any worse than Barton, a player who many seem to accept without question. We were a better team with Bellamy than we were without him. Like a few have said, Shearer should keep his mouth shut, does he really need to do talk-in's?

I've been to Scarborough once to see us play them in a friendly, the drinking was good but the football was as boring as hell, it's still a pity and like somebody said, we could have helped them by playing them pre-season. It's crap when we can't help the local'ish clubs out.

To be fair to kingxlnc, he did use a lower case "i" although it should have been upper case.

I think the FA or Premier League want shooting as much as West Ham, we all knew that Tevez was playing for them so how come nobody noticed a problem with his registration until so late on?
-
The last line is a bit unfortunate.

I agree that the midfield doesn't have a bone cruncher but they can still tackle. Remember that we'll be playing the mackems, Boro, Wigan, Man City etc, keep those teams under pressure and they'll buckle.
-
Two things, first is I've been drinking so have an excuse, second, I'd like to see them push further up so the centre halves would be closer to the midfield.
-
That midfield would be more than good enough against 80% of the teams we'll play against next season. We really need to get the middle of the defence sorted so that when we are put under pressure we have the confidence to live with it. The squad needs numbers who are capable of doing a job and we also need players who can come in when we're playing teams who are not in the 80% mentioned earlier, when we need to add grit and battle it out. If we are going to invest £250 million over 5 years then we should spend more now then reduce it as time goes on, we shouldn't need to spend as much during year 5 as we do during year 1.

I want 3 first team players as well as squad players, I don't want to see Babayaro as first choice and I don't want Ramage as first choice, I think if we get a new left back, centre half and creative midfielder/forward then we're laughing all the way to top 6. I really think that if we get the three sorted that I've mentioned and squad players in as cover then we'll do well. Given Nobby (get younger player in to learn and replace Nobby) Another (quality left back) Taylor Another (quality centre half with a good head and a big mouth) Barton Milner Another (creative player) Viduka Owen Nzogbia (new manager/new start, he clearly wasn't playing for Roeder)

I felt that Allardyce was a good decision by Shepherd, I'm not sure he would be the right choice now that our situation has changed but I'm still more than happy to support him as he's the best we've had since Sir Bobby, my reservations are about his ability to spend money, nobody can really question his ability to get the best out of free transfers or cheap players and I'm slightly concerned about the Quest stuff still being dragged up. I’m still more than happy to see him given a chance as long as he takes us forwards and tries to build the club from top to bottom. I'd like to see 3 more first team players signed before the season kicks off, I want two defenders and somebody to link with the forwards, somebody who can change a game with one pass, a Tevez who I don't expect to get but would love to see here. We don't have Eorope to offer big players but we should be able to offer Europe the season after.

When I was a kid we watched Newcastle at St James's Park.
-
We need to sort our defence before we can challenge for the top 5, at the very minimum we need a centre back and left back.
-
I can't see any point in waiting for possible action after the Stevens Enquiry, I can't see anything happening soon as nothing Earth shattering has been revealed, the club must move on. The fact that adverts have been placed for some of the staff tends to suggest that people will be coming in.

Solano packed in International football when he fell out with the manager of Peru, he signed a new contract but decided to play for Peru again after the manager was sacked. Nobby was right and Bobby was wrong on thid one, he had no right asking him to not play for his Country when fit.
